I tried adobe premiere and didnt like it.. now I am using Sony vegas movie studio and it kicks ass

If you want pretty advanced software you could do avid on either mac or pc

Adobe After Effects and Sony Vegas. Sony vegas is a dream you cant go wrong with it and although after effects is confusing if you learn it  a little theres a lot you can do with it
