It doesn't make sense. Technology killed Willy Wonka.

The original Wonka was better than the new one because in the original all the oompa loompas were different, while in the new one they were all digitally edited.

No, i used the search bar and bumped the only thread with the same logic, but it is from 2005 and in media and arts. This is not ok, I know I'm a few years late, but it killed willy wonka and ruined my childhood. I watched the original last night, for the probably 50th time. I've seen the new one once. Technology is evil.

The newer version of Wonka straight sucks compared to the original.
The ONLY good part is where the old lady laying in the bed randomly says shit, like "I love grapes", and "Dragonflies".

One good part in your opinion is more than me. Maybe it was good, I was too upset at how much it sucked to enjoy any of it.
I watch the original probably once a month at least. It was my favorite movie as a kid, and still is my favorite movie. Sure, technology has made great movies, like Avatar, if it wasn't for technology that movie would have gotten like a 5 out of 10 instead of the 8, 9 and 10's it got.

Majority of people are easily distracted from god-awful storyline and scripts by pretty looking imagery.
But yeah, the newer Wonka is an atrocity and heinous disgrace to the original.

In terms of porn it is great, I don't have to go the gas station.
But I waste too much time on it. Come September 1st I might take a break from technology.

Let's not smokescreen the real problem here by calling it technology. The truth is......Johnny depp is certainly no Gene Wilder.
He played it too crazy and it lost all the mystique. New one= "oh some crazy batshit guy who runs a chocolate factory. Old one= "what a nice old man who wants to give back to the children, hmmmm this place is awesome yet odd. Wait a minute this guy is a bit strange, maybe I don't wanna get on the boat. Holy shit this man might not have our childrens best interest in mind. My god is anyone gonna live through this???? WTF don't be so mean to charlie he's just a poor kid with a good heart. oh oh it's OK it was all a test and Gene actually loves the kid. What a fantastic story.

yeah and the whole squirrel scene, ugh they ruined it for sure. the oompas were just like a sidebar of odd in the old one, they took it too far in the new one for sure.

Hit the nail on the head.
Incredible classics don't need to get redone. It'd be like someone trying to redo The Wizard of Oz. It'd be blasphemy.
Remaster, sure, but you do NOT try to recreate a classic.

Exactly, I watched the new one once, and i've tried to forget it
imagine re making the sound of music? it wouldn't be the same. Remaster it, make it HD, maybe it would be nicer, but some movies are just such classics, they don't need to be remade. Alice in wonderland was eh i'm not sure how I feel about it.

Real problem is society. If people keep going to see these remakes of classics, hollywood is going to keep spitting them out to make a quick buck.
