B/S/T Disintegration

Call out threads have been becoming more and more common, a lot of people are sketched out and scared to do business, and some very respected sellers have been accused of scamming.  Granted, I highly doubt that B/S/T will ever end.  But I just feel like it should be somehow regulated a little tighter.  Now I know everyone's gonna say that "Man, buy, sell, and trade on Newschoolers at your own risk."  Well, obviously a lot of people have been fooled recently, so I'm just hoping that something changes, quickly.

Sell Trade has always been, and will always be, out of the domain of NS administration. If you want something with buyer protection, try ebay. The moods and sense of trust in those forums are completely dictated by the members, nobody to blame but yourselves.

It is unfortunate that all this is happenning. In reality if you just check the buyers/sellers feedback, stay away from new members, and get as much contact info as you can, you should be good to go. And always use paypal when buying so if something happens you can file a dispute and get your money back. Hopefully when fall/winter comes these assholes will stop.

Yeah I always do that, but I feel like some people that have down a lot of business on this B/S/T have grown too comfortable and trust the wrong people.  I feel like they don't look into something as thoroughly as they used to because everything they've done before worked out fine.  And I completely agree with TWA and Ginko on that it will never be regulated like the rest of the forums.  But I just feel like, and bear with me on this one, some threads should be deleted if they don't have enough information.  Now I'm almost sure this will never happen because 1) new members most of the time just don't know all the things that should be included  2) it'll piss people off that do know what they're doing but don't include everything they should.  I'm happy to see the B/S/T "police" such as TheClap, who posts in the majority of posts that don't have pictures, size, condition, etc., because even though some people may find this annoying, and at sometimes harsh, it's needed and can quickly identify a scammer sometimes.

people should still be banned for scamming once the issue has been resolved, every other good forum does that, but of course ns can't because that would be way to logical

No for a host of reasons:

- Thats getting involved in transactions

- The user may still be in negotiations with other people (as what happened with SAGAAAA fuckhead or whatever)

- It will encourage scammers to make a new account and start over

Yeah the one you made, the one against goonerville and the one against steeztech.  And especially the sagaa one, that was just a mess.  I feel like once everyone gets their stuff/money back from sagaa, his ip address should be banned, because he fooled A LOT of people.  His case specifically is what I'm talking about where people weren't careful enough.  He used other people's pictures and sold or traded them as his own.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you ban the the ip address of the scammer?  That way they'll never be able to make an account on that computer.

well me and merrill are working things out, he's told me he is working his ass off to get the money back for me because he gave it all to his girlfriend when he got it. i believe him and it sucks for both of us buy hey shit happens. seems like a genuine kid and either a misunderstanding or shipping accident. and yeah it was weird because he had plenty of positive feedback.

you can change your ip if you want or use a different computer. in this day and age its not uncommon to have a few in the house.

Haha yeah, you all have really.  I made this thread because I thought there had to be some sort of action taken to save what I thought was a falling apart system.  But everyone's input has made me realize that, like Ginko said, the change is up to the member.  I just hope people can become smarter in recognizing scammers.

You more have to be your own investigator in B/S/T. Doing business with well known users is always smooth, lots of positive feedback is also a reassurance.
Asking for pics with their username in them is another thing you can do, and getting all their contact info. EX: Having them add you on facebook, get them to give you their phone number and call it to make sure it is real and you are dealing with the person that is selling that item. I do that for users who are new just to be sure I'm not getting fooled.

Once you have all that info: address, telephone numbers, facebook profile, you feel more secure. If they never ship the goods, then file a claim. If you got all that info you could even get there local police involved.

Yeah I know, most of the time I do that.  And I feel like a lot of other people make sure they have info before they do that, but apparently that doesn't stop people from scamming.  And also, like I said before, I feel like when people do a lot of business on here they can get soft, as in they don't get all the info cause they just feel comfortable, and that's when they get scammed.

Be smart with your dealings, get his number, facebook, or anything along that nature, the more info you get the better off you are. Also for christ sake use paypal, and do not send as a gift unless you know that the seller is 150% legit, so if shit does go wrong you can get your money back and file a claim.

For sellers, Pics with username are extremely helpful maybe even dates, and make sure you have an item you are selling and can ship said item as soon as you get payment. If you don't have an item yet or you can't ship it right away, don't sell the bloody thing.



The more info exchanged the better chance your transaction will go smoothly, or the more chance you will have at getting your money back if it doesn't.

Damn, that really sucks.  Kinda what I meant when I said some users are getting too comfortable, or in your case, are blinded by the fact that they want the item so fricken' badly.
