how can you tell if the bases are sintered or ________ ? (blanking on the word right now)
Also which one absorbs wax.

extruded, sintered bases hold more wax but require more maintaining, they are also faster. Extruded bases usually have diecut bases and are slower, but can take more abuse.

I have OG ARG's and OG Blends. I keep it old school.
But for future reference, what specifically should i look for when determining whay kind of base a ski has.

pretty sure both of your skis have sinstered bases which hold wax better than extruded

Pretty sure all line skis are made with extruded bases. Not sure about the armada's though.

I know they're made with a different kind of P-tex but I don't think there is anyway to just look at them and tell the difference.

Usually, the sintered (sp?) bases will be completely black without much designs on there (think of a race ski's base). On the other hand, extruded bases will have designs/colour.
This just might be a generalization, don't quote me on this..

Check the manufacturers website, easiest way to know for sure. Generally, extruded is put on price point skis, sintered on higher end models.

what if the skis are both from 2006? That years ARG's notoriously have the slowest bases of all skis...ever. And you never know with line...

Yes.
You can tell with two ways. The first is by looking for a grain, if you see a deep groove grain it's most likely sintered. The best way (but harder) is by feel, Sintered bases are much softer when you push down on it than extruded bases (this is hard to tell though cause unless you know one is extruded and one is sintered you won't have anything to compare against).

Both, K2 and Line have extruded bases on all of their park skis.

Coreupts are all extruded. Just look at the prices they're selling their shit for. They couldn't afford to put anything else on!
