You may have missed it with the flurry of news from Comic Con, but Activision recently announced that GoldenEye: Reloaded is landing on Xbox 360 this fall. One of the most influential shooters of all time, the original GoldenEye, developed by Rare, sold millions of copies and won widespread acclaim for its innovative multiplayer modes. It featured characters and locations straight from the movie, and set a high standard for future shooters.
Any gamer over 30 fondly remembers hours playing GoldenEye split-screen multiplayer all night long (and if you played Oddjob, you were a cheater), and now a whole new generation of gamers will get to experience one of the greatest shooters of all time. Built on a brand new engine,GoldenEye: Reloaded for Xbox 360 features the same levels and storyline, with additional challenges and a full high-definition upgrade.
Daniel Craig steps into the title role instead of Pierce Brosnan, with dazzling HD visuals and the same 60-frames-per-second benchmark as today's top action game. In addition to the main campaign, the new game includes the new Mi6 Ops Missions, challenge levels separate from the campaign. Multiplayer also gets a massive upgrade, including not only the renowned four-player split-screen action but also 16-player Xbox LIVE online matches with even more maps, weapons, characters and game modes.
Rare went on to develop a spiritual successor, Perfect Dark (which you can download from Arcade) and the origin story Perfect Dark Zero (grab it from Games on Demand). Look for GoldenEye: Reloaded when it arrives on store shelves for Xbox 360 this fall.
