Idea that is maybe for the betterment of women's skiing

I have this idea that I think could be interesting, or be a huge failure.

I'm in a pretty good spot in life right now and to the point where I should pretty much be able to ski every single day this winter in Mammoth. You guys sometimes say that women's skiing isn't progressing because we dont try hard enough and what not. So, I'd like to give you all the opportunity to control my winter/progression.

I have dabbled in the world of park skiing. I enjoy it. I enjoy powder more and powder days would be my "days off" in all of this.

So, I'm thinking I could make a daily blog hopefully with video and say what I worked on, you guys could tell me what I'm doing wrong. Post what I should be doing the next day to get better. I figure I'm in a pretty good position for this since it is Mammoth and a few of the best female park skiers out there are living there right now.


I figure this could have 1 of 4 outcomes.

A. I progress a ton making you guys right and hopefully inspire other females to take it up a notch.

B. I don't get that much better cause either its a huge winter and I don't get to spend time in the park, or it really ends up coming down to physical limitations

C. I bail on the project and become a disgrace to the woman ski community.

D. I have a season ending injury.

Now I'm wondering if this is something you guys would be interested in seeing/partaking in? Kinda like MADE and ControlTV only with the audience telling me what to do…

If you think it's a stupid idea, please let me know and I'll stop here, but if you think it could be cool, give me some feedback/ideas.

Sounds like you're working pretty hard, just try to get backflips before the start of the season because you can't learn them on snow without doing them on tramp. Chances are you'll fuck yourself. Good luck though, sounds pretty exciting if you carry through.

Good idea, but the title of this thread and the notion that you're going to singlehandedly better women's skiing by improving your own skiing is pretty ambitious and probably a touch arrogant.

from what ive see, Newschoolers can be a helpful resource, but also a terrible resource. Some things that ive seen on here are just awful!  Basically, who cares what other ppl think. Go have fun and ski for yourself.  If you really wanna improve get some coaching.

I think you should stop worrying about the state of womens skiing and just have fun with whatever you do. If you find fun out of progressing and getting your trick book dialed and smooth, then sweet. Doing this for womens skiing is for sure a noble cause, but dont do it as an assignment.

My life revolves around getting women involved in skiing/ the action sports industry. Just trying to think of different things since not much else has been successful. So far ive been getting alot of positive feedback from the ladies which is my biggest concern. Im not trying to fix anything, just maybe trying to show whats possible.

Really? You can't learn backflips without a trampoline? The first backflip I ever tried was with skis on. Do you remember back when pros trained on snow and not water ramps or tramps?
I'm all for training off snow, but come on.

What I meant was I don't recommend it, some people can learn backflips right away on snow and props to them but other people (like me) try first time on snow and literally land on their head. There is nothing wrong with being safe while progressing.

you should make different and interesting edits. even though if many here say so, after 1 month of edits i dont think many on here would watch an average (female) skier training just park. if you mix it up with lifestyle and party shots, drinking and other fun, the edits will be alot more successful i think. i hope you pull it through and i would support you!

And by all of that of course you mean you want to carve out a living for yourself in the ski industry. Ok, that's cool...just don't present it like a goodwill gesture or a selfless act.

lol seriously. if you're doing this for yourself, skiing becomes a hobby and something you do for fun and it won't reallllly matter too much if you make it or not. hopefully it influences more girls to get into it, it's a fun sport, but the "state of women's skiing" (whatever that means) shouldn't really affect what you do on the mountain as long as you're having fun.

you got one more person's curiosity piqued though. nice work, I'll be following along. from my experience recording what you do every day on skis will be pretty damn cool when you look back on it.

Of course it isnt entirely selfless. Ive already been working in the ski and action sports world since I was 15. I do a lot of volunteer work with womans skateboarding. I keep trying to get more involved with she jumps, I donate my used gear to so stoked rather than letting it collect dust. A person can do good and do other things that are good and self serving. Im not trying to make an income from this. If I can get some more website work from linking to my portfolio, that would be rad. If I get a pair of skis, cool. If a few girls check it out and can gain a little inspiration or it encourages the women already training to train a bit harder, then I will have suceeded. I would push myself regardless, but if I can contribute, why not?.

I agree, why not? Certainly not knocking your hustle, or your goal to make a living in the lifestyle/culture you love. Don't know that your claims were all the relevant or necessary, but hey, I guess you're proud.

And, again, I'd say it's presumptuous to suggest that by you filming yourself in the park you're in some way contributing to the betterment of women's skiing. Frankly, it just sounds grandiose and arrogant. I also suspect this has more to do with personal gain, and less to do with some altruistic vision. EIther way, do your thing, and at the end of the day, I'm just some guy with one opinion, so whatever.

Can't be worse than Girls on Skis anyway...

yeah i reakon thats  an awesome idea. il be keen to follow and see how it goes. also just another question out of interest. at what stage of you life are you at where you can ski every day in mammoth? do you have a job? juts curious coz sounds like a damn good time to me.
