Its very undemocratic, it lets politicians take no responsibility in there vote. Basically republicans dont want to raise any taxes so they want to cut every social program, including social security and medicare where the majority of our debt comes from. However the majority of there base and votes comes from old people whos lives depend on those programs, so its very hard for republicans to try to cut these programs without some sort of retaliation from the majority of there base. This is were the super congress comes in were they can cut these programs without knowing who voted to cut these programs. So they do not have to take any responsibility in the there vote :( hope some republicans here dont get there panties tied in a knot about this, its just a republican strategy for them to balence the bugget the way they want without losing election in 2012. Yet there are no democrats trying to raise taxes and protect the programs which help the most vulnerable.

Haha, true, they still want to cut things like social security and medicare without rasing any taxes, but even cut taxes! Its rediculous to think that they can try to ballence the bugget without raising taxes! Not to mention taxes have been at there lowest rate in 60 years. Personally I would cut all of the bush tax cuts, end caps on how much you pay into social security, have a universal health care system, cut drastically in the military bugget and end all our wars, and nationalize the oil companies in america! But this might be too radical for the majority of americans and would be called socialism. Too bad there are no progressives anymore, only republicans that call themselves democrats, and republicans who are radical corporate capitalist

To woozy, guess thanks for being chill, I would rebuttal but I'm on mobile so it would be hard to research and quote sources so it doesn't look I pulled facts out of nowhere :) you also raised some good points, maybe I'll post a whole thing later but I'm traveling and not gonna be by a computer. You seem very reasonable, chill, and smart even if I dont agree with you entirely, I know some points I made which were pretty radical, suprise someone hasn't lashed out on me thanks

i actually like that this committee wouldn't have to worry about the filibuster. in my opinion the filibuster is a destructive waste of time that weakens america's ability to act quickly. with that said, however, this committee has way too much power
