OP, go to college for skiing, girls, and if they have the major you want. if you have that trifecta you are good to go.

If it has your major then that is good.
Solid Academically
Not very expensive/ Easy to establish residency
Get away from your home town (Assuming your from around Springs like your User name says)

Those are why I am going in a week and a half, I am also from PA and I cant wait

This is true.. I forgot about that, but also the University of Utah is called "The U." I guess just not as widely as Miami.

I'm starting my third year at the U this fall and I'm still very stoked on it!

Here's some reasons:


You're going to make a lot of friends pretty quickly and easily if you come here with a skiing background.

You're also going to absolutely love the western part of the US if you grew up in PA. It's a lot different here, in a good way.

The University is an excellent school, especially for science, health, and engineering majors.

Utah gets a really bad rap because of Mormons. But after living here for two years I can't say I've had any bad experiences with them.

Salt Lake City takes some adjusting to, but you'll end up loving it.

The dorms at the U are extremely nice, definitely try to live in chapel glen if you can. Also the cost of living here is very low, so you can plan on living off campus in a nice house in the future.

Sadly, girls can be really hit or miss. My advice: avoid the ones who ski.


And as far as skiing goes, you're going to have a lot of fun no matter where you go!

I go to the U of U and I enjoy it. I usually get a Brighton pass but all of the resorts are legit. There is a bunch of skier/boarder kids here so its fun.

university of miama - founded in 1925

university of utah - founded in 1850

Utah is the only state that starts with U, every other school in the country is a "university" so why should miami be the U? They aren't. U of U is "The U".

I was stating simple facts. I don't care what the general public (75% of them being retarded) thinks the U is, its u of u. But, if you want to think its miami thats fine, im sure tons of schools call their university of (state) school the U. But, the only one that deserves it is u of utah cause well utah starts with a U, making it the U.

The U existed first, u of u has been known as the U for much longer than miami and the U stands for utah, not for University of miami. Like i said, a bunch of schools that are university of (state) refer to their schools as the U. The fact that miami is a much bigger and more recognized school doesn't mean it deserves a name that makes no sense, if anything, it should be called the M. But, were both very bias, for and against utah, so we might as well just agree to disagree.

there is a U on the helmet. They have a larger school, a more prestigeous school, and a more well known school.

Ask someone on the street what school the U is and they will tell you it is Miami. I can call myself ochocinco as much as i want because i wore #85 before chad did, but HE IS Ochocinco. and no, most University of(insert state) schools are known as UM, UW, UA, etc etc, or just by the state name: Florida, Georgia, Oregon, etc etc.

This is pretty much it. It is almost universally known that the University of Miami is the U. It's as simple as that. I Googled "the U", and the first four results had to do with the U of M.

The U might "make sense" for the University of Utah, but 99 times out of 100, someone throwing around "The U" is talking The Factory, aka The Univeristy of Miami.
