What do the the two have in common and is it mandatory to talk in a butchered jamaican patois accent if you are white and a part of Inspired? Is it normal to end every sentence with MON or BRUDDAH even if it is on the internet? I am just really curious and would love to get some insight from a true white rasta on how rastafari has anything to do with skiing or let alone white people in general. No hate intended, seriously. The skiing portion of Inspired media is really dope dont get me wrong. Henrik and Casabon are actually bringing new tricks to skiing without doing a billion switchups or tripple flips which is really refreshing. The fact that half of inspired is a record label based out of jamaica is pretty bad ass too  seeing that is what tanner loves and he is following his dreams and all. I am just kind of curious as to if any lines are crossed to where being a white rasta is condescending with the actual religon that the music is based from? or does it even work like that?

tanner and the creators of inspired media are rastafarian. therefore the act rasta. Tanner sometimes has spoken with a slight jamaican accent after livving in jamaica for a couple of months. you tend to pick up the accent of the place you live in.

I lived in the USVI for 8 years, and I was one of 2 white kids in my class. Did I gradually adopt a cruzan accent? No, because that's not how I speak. He's doing it consciously, and actin a damn fool.

You can NOT be Rasta if you are white. It just doesn't work, to do so would be offensive to the very roots of the movement. Its a cultural AND racial thing, and a terrible, discriminatory religion at that.

You pick up the accent when you're younger than about 20, but Tanner is older and he's putting it on for show when he does. But thats legit, because he's doing whatever the fuck he wants, and he is a professional skier and co-owner of a music label... Can't disrespect that.

There is a lot of hilarity in this thread.

We all grew up in upper-class suburbs of New England and the Rockies, yet we sprinkle in ghettoisms and hijacked black colloquialisms into our daily conversations like its nobody's business.

Tanner is being Tanner, and that man sure seems happy. At least he is blazing his own path. Who give a fuck if its artificial? Maybe he was Jamaican in a former life.

Its a complete act and really freaking lame. they arnt Rastas lol they are stoners who listen to reggae. The skiing is awsome some of the best stuff out but its a really lame poser trend

My memory includes a thread where Tanner fairly eloquently described himself as not being a Rastafarian, as he drank, and partook of other non-rasta activities. He seemed to merely support the social causes/culture, or the more mainstream aspects.

i work at a downhill bike camp, and there where 2 kids here from barbados (lots of rastafarians there) and they were completely white, and young (one was 10), but they talked with the same accents alot of the inspired guys have (tanner) but much much stronger, but also more natural. and yes they always said 'mon' and weird stuff like that.
