Whenever there's a freeleach make sure you download everything immediately when you see it. You can upload a ton on freeleach torrents.
Also, make sure you're downloading the flac or v0 version of everything. Those are always the most popular.
Uploading any CD's you have in flac is also great for your ratio. You can also check out
http://what.cd/better.php those are all torrents you can transcode from flac and then upload as another format. You're practically guaranteed to have a couple people download your shit.
Also, look for requests that can be filled. I got like 10gb of upload for downloading a book from some rapidshare site and uploading.
When you're seeding a couple hundred torrents your upload increases a lot faster and eventually you don't have to worry about ratios.
