I think with that design you're gonna have some serious wrist issues especially if you throw a weight heavy lens on the front because you're holding all the weight on just one plane. I made a cage for my dslr, turned out dank ill post a pic when i get home in a week or so. This might work if you have a light lens but because your camera will be longer than wide most of the time you're gonna want to go with a design that has the handle parallel to the lens instead of perpendicular.

thanks for the advice. I was thinking about possibly modifying it to add a top handle, and possibly offsetting it if needed. I really like how it is so easy and cheap to make, and all I really need to do is drill so

*some 1/4" holes. I also made mine out of all galvanized piping instead of plastic. I think that having a gh2 with the 14-42 and the counterweight should also help, and I also know that this won't be the greatest rig ever made, I just thought it would help me add a little stability for filming on the beach next week on vacation. Also, I thought that the electronic controls could be cool to add on some other sort of rig

Yeah i made a whole cage that encloses my entire camera with a top handle and slidable quick release plate for offset with bigger lenses for about $15 not including the manfrotto quick release. It's all about just sitting down and thinking about what you need the rig for and then creating a blueprint based on your needs.
