The New England Patriots have acquired wide receiver Chad Ochocinco after he accepted a restructured three-year contract from the Patriots, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton.

Sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the Bengals will receive two draft picks, one this year and one next season.

Ochocinco was scheduled to make $6.35 million for the Bengals this year. The Patriots wanted him to restructure his contract to fit their cap.

The 10-year veteran caught 67 passes for 831 yards and four touchdowns last season. That was a dropoff from 2009, the last of his six Pro Bowl years, when Ochocinco had 72 receptions for 1,047 yards and nine TDs.

He has seven 1,000-yard receiving seasons, leading the league with 1,369 in 2006.

Despite Tom Brady throwing for 3,900 yards and 36 touchdowns in 2010, the Pats didn't have a 1,000-yard receiver. Wes Welker led the team with 848 yards.

Randy Moss was traded after only four games despite 1,264 receiving yards and a team-high 13 touchdowns in 2009.

glad to see some threads about the NFL. I happen to be a huge Patriots fan, so this story hits home for me. I think that if he keeps his head out of his ass, he will be able to make plays and fit into the offense. Tom Brady and a guy like Chad are a lethal duo... can you say deep ball? I am more of a skeptic about the pick up of Haynesworth. We only had to give up a 5th round draft pick to get him, and he used to be a unstoppable beast, but he is also the biggest over payed head case out there. all i know is that if he gets it going, the combo of haynesworth and wilfork will be unstoppable in the middle

He's gonna have to eat some humble pie now that he's with the pats, but if bill can get randy moss to buy into the patriots mantra, then he can get ochocinco. i'm stoked for this season, once again we have an unbelievable offense and hopefully an improved defense.

I think everyone will be surprised with how well Chad will do this year. He now has one of the best quarterbacks in the league and being on the Patriots team is a totally different atmosphere than the Bengals, which I think will really help to turn him around and be more serious on the field. Plus it doesn't hurt that the Patriots actually win and that alone will make a big difference in his behavior.

Ugh, I hope they can mossify him, but his ego is bigger than anything on this earth.  Dude is the Mayweather of the NFL and I'm not a fan right now.  If they can quell his antics they'll have a great year...  If he acts like a cocky prick it will "Bledsoe up" the selfless team dynamic they've fostered so well over the years and he would be out on his ass like greased lightning i.e.- Randy Moss.  Time will tell, but I'm expecting Belichick to put the fear of gawd in him and make him a proper patriot as he is the scariest man on the planet and he eats egos for breakfast not eggos.

I heart you Titletown.  Never a dull season.  Ever.

Even if both blow up somehow, we did not lose much. We lost a 5th rounder and apparently two low rounders as well. This is a steal.
