How much do ski boots affect skiing ability?

Interested in how important the flex and fit of a ski boot affects your skiing. I currently rock some '09 Rossi boots and am deciding between either new skis or new boots and wondered which item would help out the most. (Would sell my old boots if I got new ones)

well do your boots keep your heel in place all or most of the time? if so then they are doin there job. if not then you have no idea what your missing with the feeling of a good boot and the control it gives you.

defintly go for new boots, or at least get fitted to see if the boots you are using now actually fit your feet the way they should. Good skis help with pop and even swing weight and can help either butterability or stability and make you go faster. Coming from bad from boots to good boots is a whole nother game. They will actually work wonders for your feet. if your boots aren't workin out, DEFINTLY get boots.

In my opinion skis are the third most important, bindings second and boots first.

Thanks guys! Yeah over the seasons the heel retention has gotten kind of shitty when doing anything above just shredding the groomers. Guess I'll start shopping around for some boots

I really think that boots and binders are tied because I think that they are equally important but... i put bindings at 2 because if you bindings are to tight or loose it can be incredibly dangerous and really easily tear ACL/MCL etc... not the mention that having a brake that does not work can be dangerous for you and also those around you if your ski pops off. YOU NEED BRAKES THAT WORK! PLEASE DO NOT BE LAZY AND HAVE SOMEONE GET HURT BY YOUR SKI BECAUSE IT CAN NOT STOP!
skis are important but i mean as long as you skis aren't broken they should be pretty safe.
