Civil unions are legally the same as marriage. If you get all the same rights and responsibility what's the big fuss about what it's called? Marriage, civil union, domestic partnership, what difference does it make? Isn't a rose by any other name just as sweet? (No pun intended)
At the risk of seeming anti-gay, it seems to me that the fight over what to call the relationship is nothing more than a pissing contest. Gay people feel as if some how they are still being seen and treated as second class because of a title. I would just take the civil union and be happy. Who needs the stress? The relationship is just as valid whatever you call it. Am I crazy? Is the title a big deal after all?
