Replying to Help me build my 2011/2012 Ski Setup!
So this is my first year that I've had to pick out and decide what I'm going to be skiing on. In the past I've gone to a shop and just listened to what the staff told me and it was great until last year. The setup they designed was shit and I hated it.
Now I've decided it's time to figure it out for myself, but after looking around I discovered it'd be harder than I thought.
I guess I'll start by giving you my personal details.
Age: 13
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 130 lbs
Years of on snow experience: 9
Years of park experience: 2
Overall skill level (1-10): 6
Here's what I want in a setup:
In terms of the ski itself, I want something that can flex at will and is going to be easy to bend while pressing, but the ski also needs to be able to hold up on jumps ranging from 20-70 ft. It needs to be durable as well, I'm not looking for a ski like the suspect which has become the poster boy of shitty skis.
For bindings I basically just need something durable, preferably steel, that will match the ski in size and will support an aggressive rider.
Boots I realize are the most important part of a setup and I'm planning on going to a boot fitter to make sure I'm as comfortable as possible this season. I had bad shinbang last season and that combined with a shitty boot made everything painful. I don't want a super stiff boot because like I said I like to play around with butters and different presses and such so it needs to be flexible, but also hold me down when I'm hitting jumps.
For pricing, I'd like to keep the whole setup under $1000, but if it tips more towards 1100-1200 then maybe I'll look at similar alternatives to what you guys have selected.
I hope I gave enough information, but if not feel free to let me know.
