So ive been sabing up for a banshee bunjee but i realized that i usually urban with 3 people + the filmer and i will have trouble with the bunjee. Anyone have tips/bluprints/price to builds a solid winch?
don't even waste your time, they are wayyyy more expensive, harder to lug around, and you still need at leaste 2 people to work it. Banshee Bungee is what you want. But if not, hook up a lawnmower engine to a metal frame and go from there.
Go to the wakeskating.com forums. You will find info and design ideas that you can read through for days.
Skiers are usually easier to start up that wakeskaters, so you generally won't need a torq a verter (TAV) and can just get a centrifugal clutch and save money. Everything else is the same.
lawn mowers have a vertical shaft, so unless you want a vertical winch (which would cause bunching of your rope), you have to invest in bevel gears that are expensive and have super small tolerances that are usually not matchable without a machine shop.
because lawnmower engines have a vertical shaft. if you wanted to use one you would have to tip it on its side. but because of the lack of a preasureized oil system, there would be a huge problem with throwing of commecting rods, seizure, and oil leaks. that along with other transmission and cable reel problems if mounted verticaly.
and as someone below you said about one having "not enough torque". that is not true. a horizontal shaft engine with similar hp and cc rating will deliver just as much torque as a vertical shaft (lawnmower) engine.
