Critique my edit!! +k

It's always hard to critique an edit like this.

I know you're not really a dedicated "filmer," but if you're aspiring to be then you really should start off with getting a tripod.

I liked how to experimented with different filming techniques and angles like sliding out from behind objects, panning up and then back down. Things like that always make a nice clean natural transition.

Maybe getting a better camera would help you get a sort of "creative spark," I know it did for me.

I don't really know what else to say so I'll leave it to somebody who knows more.

For starters, definitly get a tripod. It willl greatly improve the quality of your shots. and mainly just get creative with your filming. What editing software do you use?

I would not consider myself much of a video editor/filmer, but from a viewers standpoint here is what i see.

The camera is obviously a little shaky which makes it not look as perfessional. The box thing with the name at the start of the video kinda bothered me. Make sure the camera is always focused on the skier when he is doing jumps. If possible mess with the saturation and such to make a less dull colored edit. Now for things i did like. The camera angles werent to bad. I liked the effect where the screen was split and it showed the skier hitting the rail.

Very cool edit! Like they said up there, tripod would be awesome. Also, I think the quality is only shitty because of the weather.. It's tough to get a nice HD shot when its like that outside! But yeah once you get a tripod, you can do all sorts of cool stuff with it including some good panning across shots. Stick with it!

You're just starting out so I'll give you the general idea of what's what.

To start, shaky shots are an easy way to ruin an edit. Use some form of stabilization and be conscious about it. Always make sure you're trying to get a stable shot.

Keep it short. If you question whether a shot is worth using (too shaky, skier falls or doesn't have a clean trick) DON'T USE IT. This will cut down on the over all length and keep your audience entertained the whole time.
