For free kicks just push the left stick in the direction you want it to bend... For actual shots hold your R1 button when shooting, or the equivalent on an Xbox (Lb? I don't know...).

and just hit the shoot button. It does a finesse shot that usually has some bend to it. Freekick bends look much nicer though, here:

What I do to curve is before the free kick tap LT and X at the same time.... creating a locked in aim/position (whatever you want). And then hold the Left stick to whatever direction you are wanting the bend, and shoot. this works for finesse and driven

Yeah I agree. You can do the finesse shot but thats it. Hopefully in FIFA 12 they fix it.
