Help me choose a lens!!!

Alright NS, I'm looking for a new lens. A lens that will be my "all-around" lens.
Current camera: Nikon D60
My Current lenses:
18-55 Kit lens.
70-300mm f4.5/4.6 AF VR II
50mm f/1.8 D

Alright. I'm thinking about upgrading to a d7000 soon. But before I upgrade I want a solid arsenal of lenses. I have a tele already for sports and what not, a prime for portraits, and the kit lens. My budget is around the $500 range, Although I can go higher. I don't even know where to begin with these lenses since there are so many. Please recommend anything, and also one last thing; will my 50mm autofocus on the d7000?

tamron 17-50 vc. it would replace your kit lens. awesome lens.

you can get the vc version used for around $500, and the non-vc one (which I have) for about 300

Seems like a great lens. I was thinking maybe something with a longer focal length though. I'll keep an open mind though.

I've really enjoyed this lens. I'm looking at selling it for around $350 shipped. It doesn't have the OS but has been a great walk around lens. Very wide but also has good range. I've used a protective filter 100% of the time so lens is in great shape.

i never have, and never will. understand the appeal of this lens. why not just buy a 10.5mm, 14mm, 15mm, or 16mm prime lens?

1. Super sharp.
2. Only true ultra wide angle for crop sensors (11x1.6=~18).
3. Very good in low light
4. Most lenses with similar focal lengths have fisheye distortion, this one does not.

I would've gotten this lens long ago if it were to have been available for purchase
