Meh it sounds similar but there is way more "ripping off" going on in music than most of us realize. Doesn't really bother me unless it is extremely blatant. Gotta take inspiration from somewhere right?

what, just because Lola is old and famous means i automatically HAVE to like it more than a song by a newer, 'hipster' band? think about how ridiculous that sounds. don't get me wrong, i like Lola, but i just happen to like Noah and the Whale a lot more than the kinks. it's like when people get all bent out of shape over hearing that somebody doesn't like the beatles. they can still respect the music but just not like it that much....


and i don't think that song by Noah and the Whale is particularly good, they have much better. like this one, the end part from 5:50 on is pretty fucking insane IMO:

I won't get into this discussion with you, but if you think that that song is not surpassed by the likes of Balmorhea, Mono, and Do Make Say Think in every way (cinematic post-rock), it's incredibly sad.

i didn't know that just because i'm in his thread, i have to agree with what he says. or is that a new rule you made?


plus, i know you're a smart person, you make good posts. so there's no way that you think that his last argument that i replied too (listing the 'better' cinematic post-rock bands) wasn't terrible. it just didn't really make sense...

yeah i've never heard that term, but there are all sorts of music genre names so i'm not surprised.




and yes. i came into this thread, read what he had to say, i did not agree with it nor did i enjoy reading it, so i wished he would 'leave' (and by leave i pretty obviously meant either try to be a little more open minded about musical tastes or just stop posting the kind of shit he's been posting). it's not like the thread in the first place was particularly bad (although almost nobody seems to like it), it's just that the posts that came after that were pretty meh

i would like to note that this is also not what the thread was about in the first place, so i think it's fair that i would ask him to stop posting annoying shit that wasn't even really about what the thread was about in the first place.

and yes, i did contribute to the argument by saying i liked one band more than the other. but in no way did i imply he was 'wrong' to like the kinks more than noah and the whale. it was the OP who first implied that my taste in music was 'wrong.'

That was awesome. Although I must say, between the songs in the OP the Noah and the Whale version was really fucking lame. And yes that shit was a ripoff.
