does anyone know anythig about the nordica 2012 soul rider?? i demoed them at squaw in waist deep powder and they were amazing. but unfortunatley i wasnt able to try them on groomers or in the park. so does anyone know how they ski in those areas?
The Soul Rider is a great ski. It is similar to the Patron for next year and the Raddict. SImilar shape and construction, however the Soul Rider will be the narrowest option around 95-98mm, I can't remember off hand right now. It's really fun on groomers and in the park. I would say it is more at home there than in deep powder. In deep powder I would prefer the Patron (113-115mm at the waist) or the Raddict (127mm? plus or minus a few).
If you like a wider ski, it will be pretty good in the park. It's poppy, but with the early rise you can buttery them very easily. I demoed them in March. They were one of my favourite "All Mountain" skis of the day. They handled everything very well. Like I said, if you prefer a wider ski, then it is pretty good in the park. If you are looking for a park specific ski, I would consider something else though.
I have yet to hear about one of the next years skis that has gotten such good reviews as the soul rider. Every person I know who has demoed it has said they would buy it if they were getting new skis.
