so my mom gave me a choice.....either play hockey this year or get a canon t3i i really like hockey but i also am in desperate need of a new camera..what should i do?
Get a job? I just feel like if you're older enough to put a DSLR to good use, then you're old enough to get a job - then you can buy the camera AND play hockey.
If you're some stupid as shit kid who wants a T3i to record videos of your friends skating around and fucking with old people then play hockey. If you are sincerely interested in learning the art and putting hours into filming, practicing, editing, and then doing it again. Then get the camera.
Most 13 year olds would not need a good camera like that.. They would probably be fine with something cheaper. Obviously there are exceptions to that (Zac Moxley)
Obviously there are exceptions but I just feel like the average 13 year old doesn't have the attention span or drive to learn to use a DSLR properly...
based on this video, you have no idea about anything camera or editing related.
its clear you have a shit cam right now. it would be a waste to get a t3i and quit hockey in your case. you should stay with hockey, buy a semi nice camcorder thats easy to use and cheap (200-350). you need to learn the basics before moving to a mad nice cam. because if you go up to a t3i you will have no idea how to operate it and the edits you will be able to produce with it wont be any better then this one....
Also, make up your own mind. You mentioned you you're in need of a NEW camera? why not just keep the one you have and play hockey. This really isn't a hard decision
DSLR, i quit hockey this year cause it eats up so much time. It's only fun for the friends part. But what i am doing, is just every once and a while renting ice with some old hockey pals and playing pick up. Best way to go. Oh and go pro on a hockey helmet is so funnnnnnnn
i quit hockey last year. i regret it. i miss it. but now im in love with videography/photography. i would say do hockey. get a job and work your way up to a camera
You look like the exact person to ask about filming and editing...
Get the T3i if you want. Theres no point of buying a shitty camera just because you don't know how to operate a T3i YET. There is a manual and tons of online tutorials. Its up to you to decide if hockey is worth it if your not going anywhere with it. The camera lasts for ever.
I don't see why a 13 year old can't operate a Dslr correctly i'm 14 and I guarantee I can use my t2i better then half you dudes on this thread, also dude it's personal choice do you want to get into filming and photography or do you like hockey to much? Also the kid that said he won't be able to work it because he doesn't have a working knowledge of cameras well you sir need to get out. Not true at all
I highly doubt you can use it better than half the people in this thread. But anyways, I got my first dslr (d60) when I was 13(16 now). I've put hours into it and have learned it quite well. I've taken over 10k photos with it. I am in desperate need of an upgrade though. But in this situation I doubt you have much time and interest to put towards photo/video so I'd say just stick with hockey.
Play hockey. i have always wanted to play seems like such a dope sport. You get to beat the fuck out of eachother also i am an aspiring canadian so i should probly start picking up the culture.
I would go for the DSLR myself, but if you really like hockey, experiences are often more valuable than things. If you have a camera at all, you will get by.
Why would you want a 1D? I feel there are way better options out there for cheaper. Then again, I never liked the 1D - Once I started getting into Digital, the 1D was a dinosaur. lol.
