Mt. Hood Public Park (Timberline) Questions

Opens at 10, closes at 2 but you can hike after. As far as I know, you can still lap.

Anybody there right now?

I'm just concerned because I read that you have to hike to get to the park. Thanks for the replies.

Hell yeah! First time ever riding out of the midwest (although I'd rather shred powder mid winter).

Yeah definitely. You can shred around up on Palmer early in the morning, but you're gonna be stuck with a bunch of racers, and it's going to be icy. Also, there aren't "trails" per se. Pretty much one massive glacial face sans trees or anything really. Everything you can ski (in bounds) is to the looker's right of the chairs, or near the chairs on looker's left. I do recommend jumping out of bounds to looker's left off Palmer and going out to Zig Zag. It's super fun, and there's a nice cornice, but make sure you know where you're going and how to get out (it'll take you to the top of Mile). Other than that, it's a blast, the parks are amazing!

currently we are still lapping the mile. after this weeken it sounds like youll have to walk to the lift the last 100 feet. Otto Lang park is going to start moving to the Mile Canyon park this weekend and the Otto lang jumps will be open for about another week. then we are fully in the mile park with only 2 jumps and 10 or so rails and boxes. Aug 15th we move to High Cascades lane up on Palmer.

i'm not too familiar with the public park so this may be a stupid question but is it usually lappable throughout may and june?

yup

Technically yes, but that is if you can even see anything. The spring in the PNW is quite volatile (especially the past two springs) and usually mountains like Hood are just socked in with clouds.
