Lost Baggage

So my dad recently went on a golfing trip and aircanada has seemingly lost his golf clubs. So far its been 2 days and still nothing...

has anyone lost anything because of an airline? Do you think the clubs have been stolen? whats up NS any ideas?

I'm pretty sure that just about anyone who has flown has lost bags. I think my family has lost five or more bags. It fucking sucks because your trip is destroyed and you lose stuff that's hard to replace/irreplaceable. Good luck getting the golf clubs back, I hate to say it but your chances are pretty damn slim at this point.

Forgot to add that the airline can track where the bag has been (which airport it made it to if you had any connections) and that should give you a good indicator as to where the bag was lost or if it was stolen.

my cousin if went to Peru last year with school and he lost is baggage too.. the day after it, he was at 19h from the air port in the mountain and get his baggage !!

my dad went to scotland just before 911 and his baggage was so delayed like he got home before his luggage arrived in Scottland so he had to pay extra for them to ship it back which took another 2 weeks

I am a very frequent flyer and have multiple family members that work at very high positions in the airlines so I know what I'm talking about. You have a really good chance of getting them back. Hopefully you still have the barcodes that they put on your ticket stub or passport. Those are the same as the ones on your bag. The bags are scanned as they leave every port and you can easily look up their destination. It can take as long as a week or more to get your bags back because it is possible that they did not get on the flight or got sorted wrong. Just pm me if you have any more questions

Also coming from experience, something small like a tobelrone can go a long ways. It doesn't seem like a lot but it can be the difference between some low level airline repjust barely helping you or doing more. Just be friendly and they will help a lot

ahha thanks guys, and yea we do have all the barcodes and a lost baggage receipt.

dad thinks they might have been stolen in SF ... his example was " its like a lost child after 2 days they are most likely dead"

its shitty cause the clubs and everything total up to be around 3000... they only can give you 1500 for your shit though.

2 days doesn't apply to lost baggage, simply because through 1 sorting error, the clubs could have ended up literally anywhere that air canada flys.

Then from there it'll take awhile before anyone realizes the bags haven't been picked up.

Finally when they get claimed in some way (having those barcodes literally saves you 3/4 of the hassle.) they have to get re-sorted, put on a different flight back, and finally sent to you.


Be patient. It sucks, but it's all you can do. It's also the type of shit where the airline will say they can't find them, give you whatever amount they offer...and then 7 months later, your bag will be at your door with an apology for the delay.

very much so. Those are the customers airlines actually give a shit about. If a top frequent flier is raising hell, they will do whatever they can to keep him happy.

eh give them a little time to sort things out before unleashing the beast. like i said, this probably isn't a case of the bag sitting in a corner nearby. could be anywhere.

I fly a shit ton, I've had every bad situation happen to me involving luggage. the most important thing when dealing with airline reps is be very friendly. I've been in really shitty situations and kept my calm and was very friendly and got huge cash compensations from airlines. Your dad's clubs are around, and if they're stolen, the airline will likely reimburse him fat to keep him flying on their airline.
