there isnt anything in the woods. the 'elders' made the whole thing up for some reason. they just want their kids to be sheltered. juaquin phoenix is hardly even in the movie. its about a blind chick and a retard. the retard goes crazy and tries to kill phoenix cause phoenix wants to marry the blind chick and the retard is in love with the blind chick. then he tries to kill her. cause hes retarded and doesnt know better. but its a gay love story and its not scary but there are parts where you will jump cause it gets loud. the end. you now no longer have to waste 10$

It was alright. I thought it would be scary, but it wasn't. I wouldn't say it was gay or stupid. It was a good movie, just not one that I would see again, not even rent. save your $7, and rent it in 6 months.

Also you find out that the movie takes place modern day, the people in the village are just living back in colonial times and no one knows it except the 'elders'.

um you people dont really think before you speak. the movie was good. It wasnt scary, but who cares... sure thats what I expected so in that respect I was slightly let down. However, teh ideas were good and the movie was interesting, at least TRY to open your minds a bit. Id say its a solid movie.

OMG the creatures were the absolute worst part about the movie. i was thinking it was more like king arthur when the people who lived under merlins rule, WERE ACTUAL PEOPLE! not over sized hedge hog shit. at the beginning when I first saw just a blur of that thing in the red coat, i was like, 'im done.' that just ruined the whole thing for me.

and it didnt help that my boyfriend was sitting next to me trying to freak me out by flinching everytime something was about to happen. half way through the movie, i told him that if he didnt stop, the hand holding privlages would be removed.

no im saying that i thought they were going to be like crazy cannabals or something. not monsters. so that alone was disappointing. and the monsters were supposed to be real in the movie to the little kids. ugh, that plot was just lame.

in big fish, when there was that town with like 10 houses in the middle of the woods, that was tight. they just didnt ever go out of the town, that was good. but they shouldnt have made a whole movie about it. but its cool cause i watched the labrynth when i woke up, so that made me forget about all my gay movie troubles (haha, i totally saw david bowies package)

the village was an amazing movie if you just look at it for what it is. it didn't have as many scary parts as i expected, but the ones it did have were great. the acting was great and so were all of the characters and the tension between them. the story was also great if you think about all of the themes it tries to get across. it was also shot extremely well, m night shymalan is a great director.

I saw it last night. The Village sucked. All the build up was for some kind of scary movie. In really it was just a lame love story with that bizarre twist at the end. I was as big a letdown as King Arthur. I'm sorry I spent money to see that piece of crap.

they only thing about the village that sucked was its advertisments. they hyped the movie completly wrong. SO everyone went in expecting it to be just like all the other scary movies, and when it wasnt they were pissed. Thank you SKItheBURG. How could you not notice how great some of the shots were or how solid the acting was. It's a pretty typical M. Night movie. He takes something unbelievable and brings it to life in an erie yet almost realistic way. His movies aren't horrors, but can give you a few chills. When all is said and done, you're exposed ot a moral story and righteous symbolism. I personally can't wait till his next movie.
