Timelapse help....

Hi NS. Recently shot a timelapse over Pittsburgh, but was disappointed with the results.

As you can see, there is this flickering. Anyone know how/why it does that?
There were people behind me taking pictures with flash, idk if that had anything to do with nuthin

Also, I don't have legit editing software, anyone know any free ones?

I had to put it in black and white because the colors got so messed when i assembled it and pixely. quality loss ughhhh.

Next time i'm going to set the shutter speed better (I had to adjust twice) and make more frequent intervals.

The rule of thumb for timelapses is you want your shutter speed to be as close to your interval as possible. Especially when shooting subjects that move quickly (people, cars, etc.) it is best to drag your shutter as much as possible and shoot the shortest interval you can, depending on what your card can handle and how much card space you have.

That flickering was strange. Since it sort of came and went randomly, I have a feeling it was because of the flashes going off behind the camera.

I always use MPEG Streamclip for timelapses. As long as all your pictures are named with sequential numbers, you can put them in a folder, open the folder in MPEG Streamclip, and it will make the timelapse for you. You can then export it in pretty much any framerate and codec you want. It's also free, unlike QT Pro. http://www.squared5.com/

As far as free editing software, the only one I know of is Lightworks. I haven't used it though so I can't tell you much about it besides that The King's Speech was supposedly cut on it. Other than that your only option is to torrent FCP or Premiere.
