Yea this season has been pretty terrible.
DALE
Clearly symbolized the moral and civilized side of things. They killed him off to show that pre-apocolapyse morals don't hold up anymore, they don't keep you alive. This a survival of the fittest type thing. He didn't adapt to the new world and therefore died.
I love that the writers portray Dale not as the 'good guy' but rather as the old guy with out-of-date morals. One of the characters (Andrea?) even says "there's no other option" basically, as much as it sucks, they have to kill this innocent kid because even though he hasn't done much wrong, he does pose a thuge hreat to their lives. Rather than doing what must be done and dealing with it (as Shane does), Dale refuses to accept this, and instead frees himself of guilt by denying his responsibility to kill the kid, something that puts the whole group at a huge risk.
OTHER SHIT
How funny was it when the lady is like "We'll see Sophia in heaven" and Carl is like "NO HEAVEN ISN'T REAL" lololol carl
I love Carl throwing rocks at the walker, remind anyone else of Lord of the Flies (there's so many parallels between the two
I hate how this show throws the morality thing right in your face in every other scene. Its too obvious, like its not interesting if your just gunna have dialogue explain everything. These writers/directors need to learn how to show rather than tell.
That was definitely a shit episode. Low budget to save up for the last two which should be really legit.
Oh yea and fuck Sophia, fuck waiting around on this farm, like they need to travel, that's what makes shit interesting, go explore new places, have new adventures, no one wants you to be 'safe' on a farm - how is that thrilling...they should be almost constant danger.
And I hate how they make zero progress with the macro plot, like is anyone in charge of the country? Whats the deal with the rest of the world? Are there settlements anywhere? How did this actually start? Will there be a cure? What was up with the helicopter flying over the city?
That was a good episode for only one walker death. The entire episode revolved around morality and although it was obvious I still thought it to be thought provoking. Each character was dealing with the moral dilemma in their own way. Dale was running around trying to gather support. Shane wanted to act now and not taking any chances. Rick wanted to take his time and make a democratic decision. Most of the other members of the group did not want to be part of the decision process which reflects heavily on our own society.
Carl was a little
shit disturber playing with fire. First he talks to the prisoner and then walks
into the woods on his own. Once he finds the zombie he could have just shot its
head off but instead he plays around before almost being eaten. Because he was
fucking around he let the zombie live which ultimately lead to Dale’s death. I
think this was the show telling us that any moral code should be completely
throw out the window. IE Carl should have taken the shot quickly without hesitation. Carl is also the reason the prisoner remains alive.
Rick has a hard time
making final decisions because he is so democratic. At this point the group
needs someone to look out for their safety, not waste time on stupid moral
decisions. That is where Daryl comes in and finishes Dale off. That is what they needed. I hope this episode is a sign that there will be more action and less drama to come. Lets hope.
I could definately see this happening. I also predict a big battle with the two groups over the farm but then hella walkers show up from gunshots and neither can stay so they leave and t-dog as well as herschel die and maggie rolls with the group. on a third note we haven't heard whatsup with that black guy and his kid from the very beginning of the first season.
