My First Ski's! Need advice.

Hey, So, a little about me. Been ski'ing for years on and off, always gone places and rented all the gear and such. I dont really know shit about the sport. NS is awesome for research and its all i've been doing for weeks.

This year, I moved to the bay area, and came to realise Tahoe is the shit!! and skiing is all i want to do right now. I've got a week at MHSSC in 6 weeks. Was planning on Demoing as many ski's as i could to find out what i like and what to get for next season. Guessing all the ones i would demo arnt going to be the cheap ones, so demoing ski's i wont be able to afford could be pointless. So, i phoned the rental area to clarify the rental stuff and to put my mind at rest with me getting up there to not be able to rent when i get there. It was mentioned to me in a post about the time of my week being a factor with the ski companies not being there for people to demo their shit.

Spot on customer service wise. The guy confirmed the companies will still be there and also found some Rossignol S3's with bindings for cheap. Or at least cheaper than i ever expected to pay for ski's and bindings.There the 168's.

I'm 5ft10, 150-55lbs, and I'd say a solid 2 skier (Doesn't everyone say that?)

I'm probably gonna be skiing 60% groomers 25% park 15% powder (and thats if Tahoe gets shit on and get chance to get to go)

Right now the S3's could look like the good option, reviews look good, unsure what bindings they come with, but they do for come with some sure. $300!

They a maybe a little small? If anyone has any other options to throw at me to quicken my research on what to actually look into and possibly buy. it'd be much appreciated.

Thats what i thought after checking a size chart, I know people ride some of the planks small tho.

try some coreupt skis theyre cheapand i got some for my first skis and they do it all which is awesome or look at skis.com for some nice packages and u get 10% for buying a package from them

im 5'9 and i ski 176s. i think they are a bit short and you should get a size up

Yeah, I know there's loads of other options. But with so many and me not knowing what to look for. It's like finding a needle in a haystack. Don't wanna be spending over the odds for skis and bindings, especially not knowing what I'm really looking for. That's why these 168's seemed like a good buy. Thanks to all for helping our a noob. depends how good you really are man... when you first start out you will want some shorter skis. im 5'10" and ride 179(one lifes so they feel like riding 175s) next year i am for sure going to buy in the 180s. however i have skied since i was 3

So lets say I'm shit. The 168 would be plenty long enough? The length of the ski determines how stable it is in turns right? How would having these 168's in question effect what i'd be able to accomplish, ski wise?

I am learning from the ground up regarding my skill level on jumps and boxes. So could they be good learners? These ski's seem like a good buy compared to the other prices of ski.

To the person who mention skis.com. Dont know how i haven't this site before with the deals. Can see a purchase being made from there after my trip. Thanks.

one of my friends is 6'2-6'3 and untill this latest season when he bought bent chetlers rode 168 rossi scratch park skis and he can hit any jump in the park and he learned 540s on them this year.

they wouldn't last you more than two seasons as you would quickly develop your skills to the point where you would be able to properly ski on longer skis but they wouldn't suddenly become "unskiiable".

if i were you i would wait until you have demoed a few different pairs and try a range of sizes to see if 170-180s will be unmanageable at your skill level
