Canceling your AOL account

Harder than you would think. After 13 years of NOT using my old dial up email address, someone apparently hacked it the other day and started sending spam to my old contacts.

Three representatives, three separate phone calls, 30 minutes of struggling online and 30 minutes of sleuthing around doing research to correctly guess my parents security questions, its finally dead.

Kill your old email addresses.

I still have my AOL email account from when my house first got the internet, probably 12+ years ago. Although it has now slipped down the list to being the email address I give out to people who I really don't want to have my real address.

I made that AOL account because all that existed at the time was dialup internet. Gmail didnt exist. Google wasnt anything. This is back in the "AskJeeves" days.

that being said does anyone actually still use AIM? i remember using the shit outa that in elementary/early middle school days before myspace and facebook. pimpin out my buddy profile and having the coolest fonts and colors... feels like so long ago

Lol. Secure passwords will not be compromised in meaningful polynomial time. Always include different cases and symbols in your passes or you'll be eaten by the spam musheen >:D
