a bootfitter doesnt just make you try on boots until you find one that fits, a sportmart employee could do that. most people will try on boots for ever and never find a boot that fits just right and that is where the boot fitter comes in. bring your boot in and they will be able to mold your liner, punch out the shell wherever you have pressure points and add insoles and supplimentary padding where you slip around. if you have no idea, you can go to your shop and just try them on to find something close, buy it online and go back to your shop to have them fit it, most shops charge 20-40$

A good, read GOOD, fitter will get you in the right shape, flex, etc. boot for your foot shape, skiing ype/ability, and so on. If you get the right boot in the first place, you don't need to punch and grind. Plus, you are supporting your shop by buying a product from them rather than taking advantage of their free fitting and buying the product elsewhere. Paying the $30-$40 that you would otherwise save online to get the right boot with free work if the boot may not be exactly right is better than paying $30-$40 every time there is a problem with your boot because you didn't get the right boot for your foot in the first place.
