Looking to buy a tripod.

Just got a t2i as I have stated in previous threads right now I have everything to get me started because I got the Costco kit and I even made an edit when I went backpacking; however, the edit was extremely shaky. Well anyways I want to get a tripod but I have no clue in what direction to go. I have tried to a little research myself but simply feel like a little fish in a big pond. I have created this thread so I can get you guys to point me in the right direction. I would preferably go used on ebay to save some money. I know the tripod is a something that is going to outlast my camera if I buy properly so shoot away NS.

what is the budget my good sir? you can spend as little as you want and get a very crappy tripod or as much as you want and get a good one. if your serious on good video you wont get anything amazing for under 400 but some 200$ tripods can do well for the average random edit

if you are really looking to get serious about filming and want to invest in a good tripod, i would suggest Schatler tripods. i've never used one but i've heard great things about them, especially from Landis. i will probably buy a Schatler for my next tripod

I hate to say it but as of right now I'm looking more in the 200 range but that's why I want to go used so I can get a tripod that may be nicer then purchasing a brand new one that is 200

Don't cheap out on a tripod. however, if your price range is $150-$250, you can still get something usable. I'd recommend getting something higher end if you can though. My tripod setup is one of the best you can get for $130. Its nothing special though. manfrotto 128rc fluid head ($60), used bogen 5020 legs ($70). As I said, put as much money into your tripod as you can, but if you NEED something for $130, Id recommend getting what i got. Please dont go ANY cheaper than $130 though

This it exactly what Im looking fo :) a fairly decent tripod for a reasonable price. I dont have the money to fully commit myself to a very expensive tripod

There's really 2 ways to go about tripods in my opinion in regards to nsers:

Hobby: I'd say manfrotto 701head with 190 series sticks. This is what I have an it suits my needs well. I believe its 225 on bh

Film School/Professional/Super Serious: Don't cheap out. People here with baller tripods seem to like sachtler. I've never used them but the brand has quite a reputation for quality.

id say either get the 128rc, 701, or 501 depending on how much you can spend then find some old bogen legs like the 3020 series that i have on ebay. my legs are the equivilant of the 055's, which are much more stable than the 190s. and they only cost me $70

I got the chance to use a Sachtler last week.  It's seriously so much better.  It made my 503hdv look like a toy.
