one time i locked my keys in my car (a 4runner), and i had my skis laying on top of crap in the back. i accentally left my rear window down a little bit. i used the skis as a tool to open the lock on my back door.
My car insurance pays for a locksmith to come open it. I've only ever locked them in once, but I was reimbursed when I took in the locksmith receipt. Maybe you have that!
when i was at my brothers house, we went out for dinner and his baby 18 month year old was crying so his 13 year old daughter offered to take him to the car. (you can trust a 13 year old right?) WRONG she left the fucking kid in the car(she literally has less intellect then a horse) , locked, with the keys. we tried getting him to press unlock button, but he hit every single button BUT unlock. we were in south Tennessee and it was like 100 degrees out and he took the keys out of the ignition so were sitting there for like 25 minutes and were wedging the door of his brand new tahoe with a screw driver and putting a coat hanger in it and as soon as the cops roll up, and my brother has the coat hanger on the button, he FINALLY presses the unlock button. yes, i am completely aware of how cool of a story this is, bro.
