Opinions on Insidious?

I watched Insidious with my girlfriend yesterday and the first half of the movie was really legit and very scary and had a lot of potential... THEN the last 30 minutes got really retarded really fast...

I'm curious to see how others felt about this movie, and who feels similar, because there was a lot of hype about it and a lot of my friends told me it was the best scary movie ever..

yeah it was still really scary, dont get me wrong, like my girlfriend started crying and made me turn it off for a while haha, i just felt the story line had a lot of potential and they made it ridiculous

like you said, the first part of the movie was great and i was legitimately scared. but when he went into the house and searched for his son it started to get kinda cheesy and it kinda fell from there. i was entertained though no doubt

I thought the first half was really good.
Second half was terrible.

For the demon all they should have shown was the drawings and this bit:

The part with the guy on the balcony off the bedroom was scary as shit, and when he's suddenly in the room is good, but then as soon as he turns and you see his face it was from that point that the film was ruined.

That part when he's going through the mist and the tranny granny is there was fucking shitty. I thought it was sick when she took the picture and he went mental, but other than that part of the second half, the second half was terrible.

AND with the kid playing the record in the house, that would have been better if he just ran past and slammed doors and shit but you didn't have the gay dancing part and seeing his face ruined it.

I thought that movie had so much potential but they absolutely ruined it.

It really did, when it said "makers of paranormal activity" i was like ok this will be legit the trailers look sick, then it mentioned poltergeist in on of the adds "scariest movie since poltergeist" and poltergeist was completely retarded and not scary, and that whole movie was seriously a director mashup of poltergeist and paranormal activity... then with the dreaming part i was like ok here's a little bit of inception too haha

but yes i agree that movie had A LOT of potential and a good setting, then it just got lost...

Thing is is that Poltergeist was a massive thing in its time, and I'm sure in 1982 it was the scariest film ever, but from the way horror films have developed over time Poltergeist is just not scary anymore, so 'Scariest thing since Poltergeist' to me means the reviewer is not very educated on the growth of horror films.

It sucks that they had a really good concept/idea and ruined it with showing demons/ghosts and making it really cheesy.

Eh, I can honestly say I have never been scared by a scary movie. This wasn't really an exception. I thought it was predictable and the tiny tim song actually made me laugh. The plot was decent, although I have to say the ending was either really good or just a bad cliffhanger for a sequel.

That movie was the scariest thing i have ever seen, I don't do well with scary movies or anything else marginally scary. Scene where the dude was on the porch then suddenly on in the room made me jump so much.

Also when the women was wearing the gas mask like thing at the end, made me never want to rip a gas mask bong, because if i do i will automatically be in that kids "dreams".

Thats because Quarantine was a shit remake of this film.
This is much, much scarier.


And to the guy who said about not being able to sit through a whole film reading subtitles, I used to think that but now I love foreign films. You get used to the subtitles after 10 minutes.

I guarantee it will be better.

Hollywood have a habit of remaking foreighn films into substandard versions.
Like, they remade Let The Right One In (Swedish) into Let me In, they remade The Ring, The Grudge and One Missed Call, and they're remaking The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
The originals are all so much better.

That's pretty interesting haha, that's never even occurred to me... and yeah most originals are 10x better... i watched this movie called paranormal entity... exact copy of paranormal activiy (it even said it in the info about it) and it was just a joke and should never have been made haha... ill have to check out some of these movies

I couldn't believe they made the demon look so much like darth maul, although having a darth maul mask in my buddies truck made for some good parking lot shenanigans after the movie.

ULTIMATE SOLUTION

That movie was doing very well, when it was ruined is when that women referred to this fucked up place as the further, then i got a bit skeptical but i was still holding on. They could have saved the movie if they had made the further legitemately Fucked Up. They really could have made that place much creepier which to me would have bumbed it up to 9 instead of a 6.

I was scared until I drew the connection between between Darth Maul and the demon. I just kind of laughed it off after that. Everyone's right, the beginning is good, but the second half could be better. I liked the little twist at the end, but it was kind of predictable. I enjoyed it overall though
