Replying to Fundraising/Sponsorship question

Hey everyone, I just had a question that maybe a few of you could help me out with.

I live in Sudbury, Ontario and I'm planning on cycling from North Bay, Ontario to Niagara Falls, Ontario (roughly a 900KM journey) in June of 2012 to help raise money for my brother's memorial trust fund. I've already contacted the Memorial Trust Fund, however they are out of their offices for another week and a half, and would like to get started planning immediately.

I guess what I need to know is the following:

Has anyone else done something similar to this?
How would I go about getting sponsors? I would need accommodations indefinitely, an additional bike would help...

I'm just anxious to get the ball rolling on this, I'd like to at least have some stuff taken care of by next week, or at least have started on the right foot.
