Literally that. Skiing is fucking expensive and the media around it is too. Literally everyone around me seems to be getting a fucking dslr and those things are not cheap especially if your getting quality lenses. So what do you do? If you parents pay for your shit don't be ashamed. I'm legitimately curious. What jobs do you have? Ice cream shop, mcdonalds, dealing drugs, mowing lawns? I wanna know.
Im a beer merchandiser, which means i go to different grocery stores and put all their beer on the shelves. It pays $12/hr, which for a 17 year old isnt bad when i work 40/hrs a week.
Im a food runner at a restaurant. Which means I gingerly walk the food to the tables when I am not getting into fights with the mexicans. with tips, i make somewhere around 12-14 an hour. Not bad for an 18 year old.
I'm a cashier at a grocery store. I get paid 7.25 an hour and they book me for 6 hours a week. Wish I could think of a nice business venture to make some real money. Somebody pm me if they have a nice idea. I'm good with graphic design, HTML, marketing, willing to learn, and other things. Send me a pm.
My parents help me out with a seasons pass and the occasional piece of clothing. when I have no money and no gas, they'll sling me 20. For the most part, I do yard work/odd jobs for my parents and grandmother at an income of about 20 dollars per week. I'm one of the only kids in my neighborhood of stoners who has their own car and a license so they pay me to drive them places if I ever need gas. I've been applying to a lot of places to look for a real job with no luck.
I just got a DSLR with good glass and the setup cost just around 1k. It's expensive, but if I didn't hunt for good deals and stuff it would have easily cost twice as much. I used birthday/christmas money from my parents and relatives from the last couple years, and earned some money in the last couple summers weeding. its tough getting the money for sure, but I plan on working at a ski shop once I can when i turn 16 in a year.
and as far as skiing stuff, if its something I actually need, (not a new jiberish hoodies or upgrading year old skis) they will usually cover half of it. Also, I will NEVER buy anything full price. just picked up some of next years surface one lives with bindings for $200 shipped this spring. you can find some deals out there for sure.
i make pizza and sit on my ass for 11 and hour. also my parents pay for my skis, pass and outerwear, they subsidize things if i wanna get top of the line shit. also christmas
I babysit 3 days a week and on weekends I sell food at sports games for some vending company. I actually make a good amount of money doing it (for a 16 year old). Plus I make a little money here and there as a photographer, which I eventually want to do for a living.
i work at a restaurant hostessing, bussing tables, doing dishes, and waitressing. I usually get 8.50 an hour but when I waitress I keep all the tips so it usually ends up to be anywhere between 15-20 an hour
