Looking for a new camera

So i'm buying a new camera and I have no idea what to get. My friend has been letting me use his t2i for the past year and its pretty nice but its time to get a new one. I'm looking for a camera or camcorder thats shoots in both 1080i and 1080p. I'm not really interested in taking pictures, just video. Theres a ton of choices and I have no idea what to get. My price range is around $1000 but preferibly something below so ns whats the best bang for your buck camera?

Quick question, why do you want to shoot 1080i?

why do you not want to keep using the T2i? does he want it back? because honestly, that's one of the absolute best values for under $1000 out there. you get full 1080p and the shallow depth of field and low light performance of a DSLR. not much beats that.


another option is the panasonic HDC-TM700. 1080p60p

He's moving and taking the camera with him. And I meant not 1080i, my bad wasn't paying attention. I'm just looking for more options but I might have to get another t2i.

I would get another T2i, unless you want something with better build quality. Get a 60d.

T2i kicks ass, but if you wanna go cheaper I own a Nikon D5000 and it shoots 1080p, but only for 10 minute periods which isnt really a big deal to me.

Look into a panasonic gh1 or gh2. It is technically not a DSLR because it does not have a mirror, but it can produce some great video and stills. Bit smaller sensor than a t2i, but it has some more video-geared features that the t2i and other dslrs lack.

He'll have to save up more money either way, an extra two hundred won't hurt that much and you don't need to have everything right away.
