Question for the all knowing Gear heads -> wut up

I need a new jump/jib/park tool but don't know every company's stats off the top of my head like I used to and need some quick help.

Here's what I want.

84-89 under-foot
between 176 and 179 length
stiff under foot, softer at the tips.
light as possible
race base Much preferrrred, not mandatory
durability... dont care

I live in ontario, and have approx a 10 ski quiver of old Line(4), Ninthward(3), and Armada sticks(3). I like the idea of magne traction from Lib, never ridden it, not sure how that feels, also don't think they have anything that fits my wants

I have a pair of Armada alpha 1s... hate them. Early rise concept is great in concept... but I ride so shitty on that ski I gave it to my Dad. Im clumsy on it and catch edges. I put on my old beat up, can't hold an edge to save their life (cause they have a bajillion days on them), T Halls and Im a friggen ninja again. I dunno if i hate early rise, or just the Alpha 1s.

Maybe i dont like the rocker camber rocker, and would like rocker flat rocker? Or maybe I should just go back to regular camber?

Ideas on skis that fit those parameters (anything 2010-12) or comments on my early rise situtaion much appreciated.

ha, cause I used to live on here... circa like 1999-2007. Then just quit trollin and playin WoW cold turkey, I still check the site but haven't posted in years.

The catchy feel could have been from a bad tune, sounds like someone may have sharpened too much of the rocker section in the tips/tails.

My vote, obviously, is for a set of Filthy Rich.

I hand tune myself.
I only do the section before the widest part of the skis (so the middle running 140 or so), don't touch the rocker or underfoot. I assume that's right or am I doin that wrong?

You're probably tuning the ski right, I'm just saying that it sounds like the de-tune in the rocker may not be enough for your skiing style. I'd take a file to the edge after the contact point and do a gradual round over if its not already been done. While your at it, I'd check base flatness just to cross that possibility off the list.

ya, good point, I'll go check those out.

Anyone have any ideas other than icelantic danollie and an ARV?
I wish the Lib Tech Jib was a bit skinnier.

Has anyone ridden the Lib Jib?? My only concern is that its not agile enough for what I want it to be.

i didnt like my alphas either.

the AR7 is sick. its sidewall underfoot so its durable and sets edges well, with cap tip and tail so its swing weight is light and its more flexible.

if i could find a 176 tanner in stock or 177 wall at a decent price thatd be nice. Those seem to be the only 2 that have everything im looking for, thall more so than the wall because of the flex pattern... either or though.

new libertys maybe too, the antigen seems like a possible.

thalls, ar7's, ace of spades (a little stiffer but still a really nice flex pattern), or wall's.. i have ridden all of these and you really cant go wrong with any one of them

So I ended up not being lazy and doing a shit load of stat hunting....

Finalists are (based on a combination of availability and/or matching what I was looking for):

- so these 3 I found online -
Pipe cleaner 176
Liberty Phil Larose 178 - sounds decent, half the price of the pipe cleaners
Liberty LTE 178 - Is this basically the Phil Larose replacement?
Moment Reno jib 176 - alright price

- and the rest are good but I cant find any for sale -

Palmer P01 179 -
Dumont 176 - ...
THall 176 -
AR7 176 -


To be honest, my number one choice is probably the Palmer P01 freestyle 179... of course I would pick a ski I cant find... choice 2 ... pretty much a 7 way tie.

How so? delam, cracking, edge breaks...? I actually heard that they were more durable than the average... I don't know anyone personally that rides them yet. Im going after light > durable anyways.
As long as they last 140 uses in Onterrible +some urban sessions.

Yup, it is the exact ski you described. One of the lightest skis out there and it's amazingly durable. Plus Liberty has a super legit 3 year warranty. Can't be beat

I heard Moments are light too ... but wow, the LTE 178 only weighs in at approx 7.1 pounds for the pair... crap, I was decided on the renos... now, im lookin at both.

... I like that the reno is symmetrical... but I think the deicding factor will be weight... unless the renos are substanially lighter (and would have to be at 2cm shorter, 1mm thinner) then I will hit up some LTEs...

This thread has been a big help overall, thanks NS for still being sick after more than a decade

You really don't even notice the difference between a symmetrical and non-symmetrical ski. I went from invaders to LTEs and actually prefer my LTEs for skiing switch.

What would you compare the ride of your LTEs to? or how would you describe the ride. Ive ridden a bunch of different sticks but never any liberty or bamboo cored skis

To be honest Besides invaders they are the only other ski i've ridden. Thats how much I love them haha. But they are solid underfoot, but soft and easily butterable in the tips. Super poppy and can hold their own on bigger jumps. After riding a full season I have only 1 edge crack and nothing even close to delamination.

From what i heard they are similar to AR6s and S4s but a little softer. Sorry I can't help out more on that one.

Also like I said earlier they have a 3 year warranty compared to all other manufactureres 1 year. They even warranteed my first pair despited hitting rails.
