u have bad luck with skis, or just u made a bad choice
i had my last pair of park skis for like 2 1/2 winters, got new ones this spring (Alpha 1s) but my old ones were almost dead at the end of those 2.5 years
I usually go through a pair and a half a season. I buy a pair before the season starts, use them as long as possible, then buy a new pair for the spring, those then get used as rail jam/urban skis the next season. But, I thrash skis pretty hard since I ski east coast park (lot of rails) at least 5 days a week, so I wouldn't really say it's normal.
I'd say "days used" is a better judgment of durability than "seasons used" cause I know people who say they've had park skis last them like 4 years, but only ski on them under 10 times a season, so they really only lasted 40 days.
Next season will be my fifth season on my skis. They're straight up noodles, but I hardly ever hit rails, so they're still in good shape edge wise. I'm probably gonna get a new pair for this season though.
I just replaced my chronics that I have skied 2.5 seasons on (torn acl last year cut my season short). Bought a pair of used cryptonites, we'll see how long these last. although For the past like 5 years I have bought a pair of skis every year.
invaders
chronics
lizzies
one lifes
cryps
Still have them all, gonna scrap the chronics and sell the bindings, and sell the vaders because they are in good shape, just too small for me :(
My cryptos lasted alot longer than any other park ski I've owned...and I beat the dicksnot outta those things too....had em three yrs and only have minor tip/tail topsheet chips and have never had to grind the bases yet....they aren't my only ski so that prob why they've lasted so long but they are def my go to for shit I don't want to jack up my expensive ones on so that's gotta say somethin.
I buy new park skis about every two years and I ski about 40 days a season on them. Pow skis can last a little longer depending on conditions of the season.
Usually one pair a year. Sometimes ends up being buy at the beginning of season, then they get too trashed and I have to buy a second pair midway through. Riding rails all the time and icy east coast shit just kills skis
depends. i had really great luck a few years ago and had a pair last me 2/12 seasons, then the next ones barely made it thru one. Im hoping to get two out of my new skis but we'll see how quickly they lose their pop.
I buy a pair every year, then use the year's previous as rock/urban skis. The next year, the cycle continues with me selling or giving away my trashed rock/urban ski. Pow skis are a little different. About every three years at the moment.
almost yearly altough i still keep my wrecked skis, i now have a mvmt joystick, a rossignol scratch bling and a scott p4 for wrecking/urban/backyard/waterramp only skis that i've snapped beyond repair were a pair of rental nordica ignition? skis and the OG sally 1080s :( rip babies
pow skis whenever they break. so like 4-5 years. unless there is a huge technology change, i might have to replace them earlier.
park skis, whenever they need it. mine were perfect until this year, when i skied rails a lot, and they are done by the end. probably gonna end up being every two years though
