Hey newschoolers I was hoping to get a bit of info on how these skis perform and witch would work better for me.
I ski about 75% park and 25% powder but am hoping to ski a bit more powder
I want to know about the skis ie light/heavy soft/stiff if it's poppy how well they can float in a bit of powder and how they handle crud
I'm also open to other suggestions thanks newschoolers
Also something that I thought I should add Is this season I was riding head J.O pros which where good for park because they were light and nimble by then to soft for powder as the tips dug in and were insanely chattery on crud and ice
the el ray is more of a training ski so it makes it a lot harder to get grabs and makes you work harder for tricks so you can go to your park ski and grabs and tricks will come easier. the k2 domain would be like a fun park ski. i have revivals currently and they are a stiffer ski and i think they would be simaler to the domain.
The domains have rocker and 0 camber, so in fact they will float fairly well in powder, a lot better than any cambered ski which has a natural tendency to tip dive. I feel the domain would be a great ski, but if you want more all mountain get the revival, a much better ski for what you are looking for.
The Alpha 1 and Halo would also be great for you, but are a bit thin in the waist. A wider ski would actually make rails easier to ride, but would make it more difficult to switch up and do any kind of rail maneuver on or off the rail.
IMO, get the revival or the ON3P Jeronimos, but the domain will work fine for you. The El Rey is more of a park ski that can rip groomers, not any kind of fresh snow.
I was skiing the Maiden Revivals all spring was loving the Jib Rocker for just shredding the mountain. Lifts you up over all the thick slush and doesn't fight back.
totally this. i used a pair of other park skis that have camber for a lot of the season because they held an edge better on firmer snow. but went back to my revivals when those sunny slush days came and the jib rocker was maaaaad fun. the grabby lips and slushy landings were no problem. had a surfy feel like pow skis in deeper snow. cant wait to try the recoils.
