So his attitude sucks, but so what if he is used to fitting traditional skiers? A good boot-fitter is a good boot-fitter and if he truly (and honestly) thinks the best boot for you is a race boot, then chances are it will be. Case in point, check out Mike Riddle winning the FIS Superpipe World Championships this past season in our race boot:
One of the more progressive skiers in our sport, wearing one of the most traditional boots ever created. This is the boot that fits him the best, regardless of the marketing behind it. A boot is designed to fit, and when it does, it 100% trumps the boot's intended purpose.
So, traditional or not, if a boot-fitter thinks a race boot will be the best thing for you, chances are it probably is. The boot has no idea what type of skier you are- it only knows what you are putting inside it: your foot and leg. And if a fitter has done his job properly, that traditional race boot will allow you to do the most progressive skiing ever.
