I totalled my Subaru

well first off its my moms and its on a lease. but i was driving.

its a 2009 subaru impreza.

totalled like most likely a right off..

here goes the story.

Driving home from work yesterday was pretty average. Get the same feelings i do everyday after waking up at 6 and working for 8 hours, little sleepy. But i passed that face once i got off the highway onto Southwood Road. My house is about 5 km's off the highway.

So im driving down Southwood, turn onto Graham and by this time I'm pretty wide awake excited to get home and shower. Im about 2 Km's from my house and boom!
i make a turn and everything is still normal except the sun is right in front of me blinding me,

i do the normal thing and slow down a bit, i'm probably going about 65 in a 50 as per tradition.

im driving maybe 100 meters with the sun in my eyes and i come over this tiny hill and boom a fucking racoon comes out of no where at 4 in the afternoon.

(i dont care what any of you fuckers think, i know you're supposed to run over them but put yourself in my situation and see what happens)

so im pretty much blinded and can only see outlines right now. the racoon pretty much appears on the road. (i feel like it wasnt even running out but just chilling in the middle)

so i swerve slightly out of the way, and next thing i know i'm in the ditch against a rock.

this ditch is probably about 6 feet deep and i travelled about another 50 meters before the rock but that didnt slow me down at all. i Hit this rock at 60 km/h airbag went off and now the car is totalled.

im one lucky guy, i walked out of it with nothing but a swollen face, whip lash, and the hair on my arm is now missing.

if you saw the car then me, youd be surprised i was the one that came out of it and not some guy in a coma in the hospital.

i have pictures on my phone but i cant figure out how to get them from there to the internet.

so i turn the wheel over 90 degrees, and next thing i know i'm in the ditch against a rock. because when they build highways they don't put 6 foot ditches 3 feet from the side of the road.

He said he was off the highway. I know plenty of non-highway roads that have huge ditches on the side. Some of them aren't even ditches. They're cliffs. Kid's lucky to be alive. Don't be a smartass.

But holy shit elliot thats insane! I am so glad to hear that you walked away alright, I was in an accident in the winter and was fine but it still really scares you.

Thank god you had a subaru with AWD.
But 4 reel, run the fuck over retarded little critters from now on. is it worth risking your life to not hit some dumbass raccoon who decided to jump in front of a speeding 3000lb chunk of metal? sorry i just cant have sympathy for an animal that stupid. the most ill do is let off the throttle maybe brake a little, which doesnt ever seem to work anyway. ive never swerved for an animal and i never will unless its a fucking cow.

i have no recollection of this accident happening except the cuts and burn on my arm. and the pictures on my phone which i will try to get on here working

but for all you telling me to swerve, you weren't in the situation i was, i have hit animals before, i know not to swerve.

i have had my full licence for a year. just turning 19 this year. so 3 years.

but i work for the town, and thye make ya take a bunch of driving courses. im by no means a stupid or bad driver

yeah i wasn't gonna say you were, just wondering. If you get a lot of glare from the sun sometimes cleaning your windshield can help a little, but also you might want to get some sunglasses or something.
