Are they really that sick and should I get one?

They are pretty sweet looking, but I just want to know how waterproof they are. Most are only 3000 mm waterproof, so what does that mean? Water will soak in like a cotton shirt? Or it will bead away like Gore-tex? Someone explain!

Gore-tex is 10,000mm waterproof at least.

Ok, so then 3000 Waterproof is not so Waterproof at all? It would defeat the purpose to have a winter jacket that allows water to soak in.

fuck waterproofing its all about the steez. and yes they are sick I've actually seen them in person and got to touch them biach

does water bead off of them? are you gona be waterskiing in it? snow fucking falls off if it's slick, like most jackets are, I don't think you're gona get wet.

Well right after ski season ends down here, which is mid-march, I head up to my uncle's lake and go WakeBoarding during spring break. The water is always super cold, and the last few years I have gone I had a Gore-Tex jacket. I wanted to know whether or not the Siver Jacket's will do the same, apparently not.

Good lord no, nothing like that. Not even close. Personally, i would never use a 3,000 mm jacket for skiing. I wouldn't use less than 10k. MAYBE 5000 for spring skiing in the sun if it had good breathability (which is usually the problem with really waterproof jackets).

3000 will hook you up with light days, help just a lite drizzle or snow bead off, but anything slightly less than drenching, youre screwed. still works well though.

I usually use 5000 or above as a rule of thumb. But if you live in a area where you don't get that much heavy snow or varying conditions I'm sure they would work for you.
