Just got to Santiago, Chile this afternoon. Probably will be around Valle Nevado and Portillo for the next few days. By any chance is there anybody else down here?
At the moment it is, because when the snow isn't great they don't sell day tickets, so there is only 300 or so people skiing. When the whole mountain opens they do let other people ski here.
It's a pretty crazy spot, just a hotel, staff buildings and 15 or so lifts 3000m up in the Andes.
Dumping right now, more than a foot of fresh overnight, not much open due to avvy danger and visibilty, but when this storm clears it's going to be epic!
So I've been cut loose from Portillo, might be working there again in September, but definitely free for August, so am heading on a solo travel/ski adventure. Anyone skiing the Santiago resorts atm? Looks like Monday could be good. Also hear Chillan is good right now?
