More on the Moment Skis Deathwish (dual rocker meets triple camber) ...


If memory serves me right, dimensions are 139-112-129. Red arrows indicate contact points of camber. As of now, there's around 1-2mm underfoot and a couple mm's more near the tip and tail. I haven't been on the re-deisnged profile yet, but got on a pair for a few days recently and the ski slays groomers as good as anything 70-80mm in the waist. Can't wait to see how it performs everywhere else on the mountain and in deeper snow. Flex is medium all throughout and most resembles the Ruby flex of the last year it was made.

Available in 164, 174, 184, 190.

And more news on Moment...

Donner party and Comi are now extinct. Jag Shark/Belafonte now offered in 187 (in addition to 182, 192, and whatever the shorter length is). All ski profiles in the catalog now come with a relative flex rating. For instance, The Governor (Bibby Special) is set at 10. Bibby Pro at 8.5, Jib at 4, etc.


Also, we got a kid ski that has tip/tail rocker...

Reminds me of the praxis concept more than anything else. I think I also saw a first gen bentchetler that had the same thing when you decambered it and a couple dynastar's a few years back. ON3P did some protos with a similar idea last year. Nothing to get your panties in a twirl about. My guess is that the ski's internal lateral load transfer abilities have more to do with how well the ski carves comparnarrates its width rather then the camber profile. A simple vector analysis makes that clear. the 'tripple camber' will help get additional bite out of the ski further away from the mid point, while allowing than the flex would traditionally be capable of. It essentially concentrates the edge power into a set of more defined finite points, rather than a differential energy distribution along the edge usually in an inversely exponential to the distance from the control point (usually your bindings).

Other companies have played with camber and sidecut profiles IOT generate similar effects. Notibaly Libtec (sidecut) and dynastar (differential camber with increasing severity, ever wonder why XXL's couldn't float worth shit but railed the fuck out of everything?)

The moment idea (a hell of a lot better than Libtec) will allow the ski to float a bit better than the dynastar concept since it still allows a softer effective flex pattern into the negative cambered range.

I believe its going to be 114-118 in the waist. And maybe a little stiffer than the tst. Supposedly it is replacing the ANT as a big mountain ski. Either or it looks like its going to be an awesome ski next year. I am really excited to try them out.

Oakley is well over due to over hall their line, and it's no secret the the electric eg2 has been dominating the market for the last few years, they needed something to compete.

Honestly i'm so fucking happy oakley made something like this, that futuristic industrial bull shit needed a break. The splice doesn't sell very well at all, and crowbars, fit a medium face at best. nothing really fits large faces that well from them currently.

I actually have held these in my hand and tried them on, and i will say they are miles better than anything oakley has ever put out in terms of peripheral vision and comfort.
