I agree with the below recommendations. I did that for slightly over a decade and never got better skiing on the mountain.
Fell back in love with skiing this season and changed my routine to stairmaster 4 days a week and pyramdid squats. 135 through 305 and back down evenly (if you can).
I still bench and deadlift and pullup but its definitely lesser and my legs have never felt so good in the woods / slopes/ pow / or a chair with the bar up.
armchair_skier1. Heavy overhead strict press and push press
2. Smith machine overhead press
3. heavy lateral raises for 8+ reps with real weight no 15lb flappy bird crap
4. cable lateral raises
My delts looked best when I was obsessed with pressing heavy overhead and since then I’ve struggled to get back into it without overloading immediately and injuring my wrists.
I always think it's interesting how sometimes seasonal workers like myself yearn for the stability of a real job and that people with real jobs yearn for the seasonal lifestyle. Does that make sense?

I feel very lucky to have my job, but sometimes I get a little jealous when driving by construction sites and road crews on my commute to the office, especially on busy days with lots of meetings

“The great source of both the misery and disorders of human life, seems to arise from over-rating the difference between one permanent situation and another. Avarice over-rates the difference between poverty and riches: ambition, that between a private and a public station: vain-glory, that between obscurity and extensive reputation. The person under the influence of any of those extravagant passions, is not only miserable in his actual situation, but is often disposed to disturb the peace of society, in order to arrive at that which he so foolishly admires. The slightest observation, however, might satisfy him, that, in all the ordinary situations of human life, a well-disposed mind may be equally calm, equally cheerful, and equally contented. Some of those situations may, no doubt, deserve to be preferred to others: but none of them can deserve to be pursued with that passionate ardour which drives us to violate the rules either of prudence or of justice; or to corrupt the future tranquillity of our minds, either by shame from the remembrance of our own folly, or by remorse from the horror of our own injustice.”
I've always wanted a seasonal job instead of sitting in an office 5 days a week. But that's definitely now faded over time.

Does anyone ever look through old ns profiles on here? I've been seeing conversations from 15 to 18 years ago. I was an infant, it makes me feel kinda sad and it reminds me that newschoolers is a real dinosaur. I wonder if any of these people are still shreddin.

I’ve been on here that long and still ski park. Some of my friends have been skiing park since 2003 or so
We are, but some of us have moved our blown out shoulders & bad backs out of the terrain parks and into the woods.
Crazy how my first account (banned lol) was from 2007. 18 years ago is crazy and somewhat sad to think about how old I am.

Dude I’ve said it before but the community here is seriously unrivaled. I’ve met so many cool people irl cause of NS- which feels weird to say haha.
I think what really sets it apart from other forums is people don’t post here unless they really fuck with the scene or skiing in general. So as a result most of the regular people here are just really passionate skiers.
Like all the meetups and group chats that have spawned from this site are actually crazy. And I have yet to see another forum or online that has the same degree of community.
It’s true. Can’t really find a community like this in my other hobbies and interests.

This site was a crazy catalyst before social media existed. The platform went obsolete but the idea of networking with skiers and videographers on the internet in 1999 this was massively cutting edge and totally grass roots. All I can say is I hope the kids get some version of that as things evolve because that was pretty awesome to see what small part of it that I saw

I think we are finally realizing what social media looks like in the long run, and it will make websites like this more popular again.
the interior of that dart looks way nicer than mine lmao. my bikes on the back are definitely worth more than the car because i dont give a fuck about the car i drive lol. just a tool to get me from 1 fun place to the next.

lol my truck has become the family vacation vehicle since we bought a camper. My truck is a 2017 but I’ve also spent 1000’s building it to get as reliable and bulletproof as possible. As nice as the new trucks are I just can’t bring myself to get rid of mine.
partyandBSlast year i won my ncaa bracket by picking all the higher ranked teams and then the east coast team to win. so gonna run that back lol
Oh fuck you just reminded me that I gotta run to the bar down the street and join their madness. Just one team pick. If you make it to each stage the prizes get bigger. If your team wins you get a blackstone and 500 bucks to ace hardware

depends on your preferences, are you looking for acoustic, electric? what kind of artists/genres do you like?
squiers (fenders budget brand) are the bread and butter for beginner and budget guitarists. squier strats are essentially the most versatile cheap guitar on the market. they’re all over faceboook market place and reverb going for really good prices, while still having very affordable models that are brand new. electric guitars are much easier to start out with than acoustics due to having less string tension and the ability to play any genre if you have a modeling amp.
this would be my recommendation for a brand new starter guitar. most smaller amplifiers are expensive when new, the used market for amps is the best way to go imo. most of the other miscellaneous gear such as cords and picks can be picked up for very cheap on amazon or at your local music store.
for amps i would recommend you pick up something used, solid state, 20-50 watts that includes multiple modeling options. fender champion, fender mustang, boss katana, peavey vypr, etc. it’s up to you to find appropriate gear and to do the research to understand what you’re buying.
if you really stick with it, playing guitar can change your life.

idk why but i assumed acoustic was easier to learn. but im all over the place with what i listen to. lots of bluegrass and jam bands. typically see a lot of grateful dead cover bands. also like bands like lettuce and the motet. also a ton of hip hop but not relevant to this lol
thanks for the insights though! i may just swoop that one.
I first started playing guitar with the goal of being in a bluegrass band decades down the road. Since I started 4 or 5 years ago, I haven't played any bluegrass lol
my least favorite group of people, without a doubt, is fake kanye fans. like if you don't like him, totally understandable, but shut your fucking mouth always talking about how you miss the old kanye or that he made graduation or some bullshit. i love kanye and i don't seperate the art from the artist. his music has got me through some tough times and now that he's having tough times, i'm not going to give up on him like some degenerate. actually fuck you.
