Going to be interesting if Trump does bring it back. Considering how he was part of putting the ban in motion 4 years ago, then the Supreme Court with a few of his justices upheld the new ban and he is supposedly the “tough on china canidate”.

Personally I hope he doesn't reverse it because he claimed to want to ban it before and claims to be tough on china, so he better stick to his word. He also is now claiming to reverse it, so which word of his will he stick to? Additionally, I am glad Tik Tok is banned, get that God forsaken thing out of our population's hands. But I do think it's unconstitutional and the government shouldn't be banning things like that. It has major dystopian censorship vibes

When trump started the process, the rule was that they could still operate, but without sending any information to China. TikTok blatantly violated that at every opportunity and made it clear that their influence in the west was too important for the CCP to give up. They've had countless offers to buy the non-chinese portions of ByteDance, but they'd rather be shut down than separated from China. To me, that's made it clear that TikTok really is just a tool for Chinese control and should be treated like any other foreign propaganda/espionage campaign.
This is not the government stifling free expression to dunk on the kids. The feds gave TikTok so many offramps to get away from the CCP and continue operating in the US, but they refused all of them. TikTok chose to shut down in the USA rather than simply follow the law, because this allows the CCP to maintain control of the platform in the rest of the western world.

I’m not sure where the censorship thing keeps coming from. The issue was never the content on Tik Tok, it was the ownership of the company and where/who the data went to. Tik tok didn’t even really argue that content on TikTok was being censored.
The oral arguments are interesting from both sides, but this seems to be a far cry from government censorship.
I also think it supports the governments case that there may be some shenanigans…now that we’ve seen that bytedance/ccp would rather lose millions, potentially billions of dollars then give up their control over the data, algorithm and whatever else they might be doing with TikTok

I mean I understand the intent isn't censorship and it's to block the gathering of our data by the Chinese, but intent and action are not always perfectly aligned. It is censorship even if that's not the intent, in that there is a black and white ban on using a platform to freely share ideas.

designing and manufacturing small things is hard running into thin wall issues with pen version slim. i almost want to move to a smaller nib size so i can have more wall thickness but that'd be taking the easy way out and would cost more money in tooling

Yeah, hit that with some epoxy, make sure it gets through the gaps in the edge to hold it in place. Could do a thin layer of epoxy to keep water out, then ptex on top. Ptext tends not to like to stay in holes along an edge.
What skis? Thats the question. But yeah, I’m kind of at the point where I have to sell stuff to buy stuff. My last ski purchase, I sold off 2 pairs of skis. In fairness, it was more like 2 swaps since I had already replaced one pair of skis ( 2 buy + 2 sell total).

Those fucking Pusu Loskas. I demoed stuff on saturday. I tried most of the more carvy-ish all mountain skis there was. None of the others really matched my vibes. If I buy them I'll slap some Duke PTs on them. I have unmounted pair currently.
Mirus cor could have been but turning radius was bit too tight. Could be fun in the park.
Also I had to try the new Corvus. Not even close to what I want right now. I kinda liked it it was little too big for the hill tho.

Depends how relevant they are, sometimes you can get a majority of your references from 3 or 4 papers, then maybe some brief citations from others

Make sure to use isopropyl alcohol and a q tip to clean it out of dust. Then sand a little inside with rough sandpaper. Put a thin bit of epoxy like just a millimeter thick in and let it cure, mostly just to seal the core. Then put base weld in (basically ptex with more carbon in it that attaches better to the edge). With base weld you wanna take your time and press it in with a butter knife while it's still hot to squeeze out any air pockets, then make sure it over fills because it will shrink. Finally scrape it off like ptex and wax

Ik everyone is sick of hearing about my ski video thingy but I just wanna say thanks to everyone who’s watched it! I’m at 250 views which doesn’t seem like a lot but honestly it means the world to me. Like 250 took the time out of their life to watch me and my buddies ski for 10 minutes, just yeah that hits in the heart. So again thank you all!
Very proud of the training sled I pulled today. Straight through narrow shit fuck tree ski conditions and weeks-old pow. And I might actually go ski with a girl this week if I don't blow it. Until then, I pray to God my truck starts tomorrow morning and the work snowmobile because it's going to be probably the coldest morning of my life

Sometimes I feel like I only do good deeds for purely selfish reasons, here in Italy no one stops for people at crosswalks so every time I see someone waiting I’ll stop for them to cross, and I always feel good about myself when they mouth “grazie” or raise their hand in gratitude
When 1500 people get pardoned for insurrection, it's difficult to believe any law carries weight in this country. Money and power are all that really matter and always have. The judicial system is a facade. Not a rant- this is my mind being reminded of reality in a very disgusting way.
