A co-worker of mine read a novel that fucked her up so bad that she didn't read for several months. When she described the plot I was fucking nauseated by how fucked up it was. Wasn't super detailed gore porn or anything like that, just really messed up scenarios that made me question the mental well-being of the author. I didn't even read the book and I still get kinda shook when I think back to her describing it to me lmao.
my copy of wind and truth is being delivered tomorrow. Super stoked for that
Way of Kings and Words of Radiance are two of my alltime favorites, read them both at least 3 times. Oathbringer was good but a bit tedious at times. I got bogged down in Rhythm of War and never finished it...
But in my defense, in between OB and RoW I read the entire Mistborn series, and I think I over-Sanderson'd myself. It's probably time to give it another go

I have WoK in leatherbound. So pretty. Did you like first era or second era mistborne more? I kinda edge towards second era myself.
Definitely easy to over sander yourself. He just has so many books. Sunlit man is extremely good and an easy read to get back into the cosmere. I also enjoy the audiobook versions of the stormlight archives. Less tedious to listen IMO

It's been a minute, era 1 is Vin and era 2 is Wax/Wayne? Can't say I preferred one over the other, era 1 minus the "romance" is great, and I liked the Sazed arc in era 2. I've found I'm drawn more to the earlier books in most of his series because there's so much "wtf is happening", like you get bits and pieces of backstory and cosmere-interrelatedness and you're still kinda trying to figure out how the magic systems work and everything. Like I'd spend time reading all the Stormlight forums and stuff to get the bigger picture, but by the time RoW came around I felt like there wasn't as much "mystique" and I got less invested (lol nerd pun) over time.
The first time reading Way of Kings, the first bridgemen scenes, literally jaw-dropped for the entirety of those chapters. It's such a brutal concept
My lil skiing trip was mostly successful. Didn't end up into a ditch on the way there. Did some radical skiing. Feet were cramping little bit. Didn't end up into a ditch on the way back. Overall I'm pretty happy

Sunlit man was very good, but i'm worried all the world crossover stuff is starting to go too far. Even the later wax and Wayne books started to push the boundaries for me. Too much more of it and it's gonna end up like an avengers movie
I think i prefer the more isolated stories with small hints of influence between planets.

I agree, but I am also so interested in it tbh. It's conflicting, but I would be okay with him doing standalones like the sunlit man, and then leaving the other series more focused on their worlds.

We can’t do surgery without anesthesia you would literally die. It’s not just pain control, your body would be so stressed you would literally die lol. Your blood pressure would be so high your bleed out, have a stroke or a heart attack. Like it’s not even an option. Patients would just have to pay the cost of a prolonged surgery which… happens literally daily where I work. It would cause surgeons to rush (NEVER a good thing) or they may elect to do complex procedures in segments/separate surgeries. So that’s more down time, time out of work and stress on the patients body. For what? It’s fucking dumb
