BallClapperYuhhhh, fuggin sick out here. Where you thinking?
definitely wanna checkout the rest of the state, was in San Juan’s most of the time but spent a half day in Bellingham which would be perfect, housing is a bit nuts but hope it gets better in about 5 years
PartyBullshiitHe actually didn’t tell me to kill myself. He said he hoped my Tesla malfunctioned and drove into a tree. So I guess he said he hoped the car would kill me. Lol.
Farmville420Aside from this house probably being unlivable, what's the catch to a 5 acre lot in an oceanside city?
location. Its small town livin thats for sure. its far as fuck from everything (except africa. its the closest incorporated u.s. municipality to that continent i guess lol) over an hour to a walmart (same if you have a remote job and wanna get far away from everyone and be a hermit all winter then its pretty clutch. the affordability would allow you to build something sick and even get an indoor setup like a mini ramp. looks like a 2 hr drive to bangor which is where you could fly to newark or nyc to connect.
its also 2 hours to go ski the surface lifts at mt jefferson, 2.5 to ride the double at herman for 350’ of elevation, 4.25 hours to sugarloaf and 4.5 hours to sunday river. sooooo same as taking i70 lmao

There's grocery stores around it would be the same as a lake house I imagine, couple miles from the beach, couple miles from "downtown", and 5 acres is enough to legitimately build whatever the fuck you want. Would be fun to put $0 down and pool money with some other people (monthly payments would be like $100) and just create some kind of insane complex for weekend getaways lol

Lol my Dad is from Eastport. Goes back once a year for the fourth as "a reminder of how lucky he is to not live there anymore."

oh as an investment property and to go in the summers, probably pretty sick. near the water like you said and a quant lil town. a cool 2 hr drive down the shore to acadia as well so in that sense its not bad.
house is probably condemned and a tear down though. might as well look at undeveloped property at that point.

You do not want to live in lubec. It is
not an “Oceanside city” lmao. I think you are wildly underestimating how rural that part of Maine is. And I guarantee that house needs like 200k of work in order to be remotely livable.
my family has a place in brooksville, which is far far less remote than lubec but the same “down east” region, and it is scary quiet there in the winter. Dark, cold, but also not much snow. Nobody around. Nothing is open. It is paradise in the summer, but any other time I visit it is legit spooky how dead it is.

The quaint little town you are imagining is like Belfast or rockland, wayyy farther south on the coast. This is more like a coastal rust belt vibe
partyandBSso drinking olive oil makes you rich? say less fam
No. One thread people have been talking about Elon. In another thread dedicated to olive oil we’ve been talking about drinking it for health. Lol. Completely unrelated to the two. Just saying. The internet is listening.

Bellingham is insane. If you float around enough and aren't a douche it's pretty easy to find roomies. Lots of skiers and outdoorsy types out there. Usually 5 guys to a crib.
Anyone following the Polaris dawn mission? The astronauts just drove out to the launch pad. It’s pouring down here by me so I don’t think I’ll be able to see it outside unfortunately. Weather is semi decent up by the launch pad so they have a chance of going tonight finally.
I go to school about 2.5 hrs from Lubec in Orono and I'm 2 hours from the nearest "city" (Portland). @hi_vis360 is right, midcoast maine would be a way more livable option.
