PartyBullshiitAt the moment only a few cars can use super chargers other than teslas. BMW’s are not one of them yet. They’re supposed to gain access this year around Q4 but the current delivery models still do not have the Tesla charging ports. Currently it’s only ford, Rivian that have super charger access.
so charging capabilities are not the same. Not even close. The charging infrastructure here in the states is hot garbage. Most “standard charging banks may have a handful of chargers, and you’re lucky if a few work. Tesla banks will usually have 10-20+ depending on the locations. Super chargers dominate the US by a huge margin.
it’s easy to say “you’d buy a bmw all day” when you have zero clue how much the cost or price differences are, especially when you aren’t paying. I’m paying just over $500 a month and that was with zero down. The IX lease program was 6k down and an $899 payment for the base model, with the top model being $1200 a month.
im not saying Teslas are the best cars period. They aren’t. Not even close. But when it comes to the best bang for your buck in the Ev world they can’t be beat. That’s just a fact. The model y has been the highest selling vehicle in the world for a while now for a reason. Performance/value can’t be matched by any other vehicles. if they were the same price and performance values I’d be with you all day. I’d take the BMW, but they aren’t. Not even close.

1spliff2guinniesIf you want to know who really has influence in our countries, look no further than who gets complementary tickets to events.

iH8powI can thank the model Y for purchase of my RS3. Test drive one early 2021, MYp was $55k with no tax credit. When I realized it was nearly the starting price of a RS3 I made up my mind right there in the Tesla parking lot that I’d get a cheaper ID.4 and put that $$ for a RS3 (in hind sight, I should have bought the Tesla and resold it when my ID.4 arrived nearly a year later). I don’t get what the fuss about acceleration on EVs is about, our ID.4 is 5.5 second 0-60 you already smoke everyone off the line who’s not expecting it, it’s just extra tire wear which $$ saving minded people aren’t into, you lose so much range driving fast on the highway especially if you got ski fever trying to rip through the mountains that costs you a charging stop
sounds like you did lots of cross shopping though, I’d love a 400 mile range Taycan sport turismo but that’s hella money. It’s crazy EV lease deals these days though they’re just giving them away. And you aren’t locked into old dated technology and range
PartyBullshiitThe new macan ev is also really nice. But same story. They’re asking so much for them currently. The taycan turismo is so fucking nice. Really loving the new m5 wagon that just dropped. I’ve always been a wagon guy.
maaatttI love mahjong
KungKalmarI think the m3 wagon looks better than the m5 wagon. I like the grill. Neither of them beats the RS6.
KungKalmarI have Never touched a model y but compared to model 3, Quality of BMW's EVs feels lot better in every possible way seats, interior, driving blaa blaa. Plus it's a german car and that's what gentlemen drive.
PartyBullshiitM3 wagon isn’t sold In the states, but i still prefer the m5 wagon more. Rs6 was my fav until the new m5. Ice wise. I’d take the taycan turismo over all of them.
Goretex_VidalOld professor of mine got an M3 wagon stateside by ordering one in Germany, flying out to Munich and taking her husband on a roadtrip down to Naples. Brought it back to the factory and had it shipped to the US as a used car with 1500 miles on it.
Ended up being cheaper than a new M3 sedan here.
PartyBullshiitThat’s interesting. Typically you cannot import a car that’s not sold in the us until it’s over 25 years old. There’s a few exceptions like when the same motor and chassis is already and approved for sale in the us and has gone through similar safety tests, but then you usually pay extremely high import rates on top of the vehicle. I’d be very surprised if they paid less overall. That’s why you don’t see this happening on any regular basis.
SlushSeasonThis is a real thing. Google "European Car Delivery Program". Most of the German car companies will do it and give a few percent discount off the price you'd pay in the US.
