This summer I am planning on doing some mountain biking and might make a trip down to Mammoth.

And Ichibans is the Japanese steakhouse/show where they cook right in front of you and is really entertaining.

But I do know a good greek restaurant.

I think I've been suffering from pee-shyness recently. Or as the scientists call it: Paruresis

It's the weirdest fucking feeling ever; you're dying to pee but when the toilet is in front of you and you're not by yourself it just won't come out.



Anyone else here had this before?

Its raining here too. But back up at school we're getting 12 inches of snow today and no temps above 40 forcasted for at least the next week. I really wish winter would just end now

I'm so confused by this statement. <3 Endless winters. August and September are continuously the most difficult months of my life. Fortunately, I live in a place where winter seems to go October to July.

Fractured ribs and wrist means no more skiing. This is the only time in my life i've wanted winter to end and also the only time I can remember it snowing like this this late in MN. I absolutely love winter but now that I can't ski I just want ice out so I can go fishing

i'd ski on fractured ribs (actually did this season) but the wrist i dunno if i'd risk that.

maybe if i was just cruising around casually. i wouldn't hit anything other than ride-on features, and no chance would i be hitting any jumps.



feeling the same currently though. my season ended march first here in CT cause i have no way of getting to mountains anymore.... and i love skiing so damn much but since then i've just been like "alright, lets go summer, lets get the trampoline up and the boat back in the water"

I have skied with fractured ribs, just take it easy.
Wrist will most likely be in a cast which complicates things, especially if you fall.


On a related note, a guy in my field hockey team fractured 4 ribs today after someone collided against his ribs with his stick at full speed.

where are you from again? cause guys field hockey isn't very common in the U.S. (i think?)


that sounds gnar though. i fractured two ribs on an urban rail this year. add that to the list of injuries this season (broken thumb, separated shoulder) and it was a rough one for sure. gonna get cut over the summer though, stretch a lot, get really fit but not necessarily big, and be ready for next season/soccer.

Dangerous do: 22 people with 35 inch long pieces of carbon fibre striking at a tiny plastic ball and only some shinguards and a mouthguard to protect you. In addition falling on sand-based astroturf is just like falling on concrete covered in 80-grit sandpaper.


Try Yoga: being limber helps in falls besides being fit.

word dude, i can definitely see guys field hockey being dangerous so i respect you for it haha but as a hockey player i have to say i like ice hockey better.


and yeah, yoga/stretching is gonna be a big focus of mine this summer. just in general getting my body in top shape.


to Turnip - im not a huge fan of the music, it helps if i'm under the influence of something haha or if i'm at a show. my real taste in music is so broad i couldn't even begin to describe it.

I like icehockey as well but the scene is not very big over here and I started playing field hockey when i was young so I've stuck to that.

Hate that the general consensus in non-field hockey nations is that field hockey players are wimps and pussies.

i was pretty lucky in that i got to play on one for four years at school and my university has one too

I've played on some horrendous pitches though ( bits of gravel, an inch of sludgy mud on the surface and levels of sand that wouldn't look out of place on a beach have all featured) and as i say, im really lucky to have water based. that said though, European playing is way above our level so i guess it evens out

The skin on my knees and elbows consist solely off scar tissue.

The pitch is also a reason why I have to buy a new stick every 6-8 months.
This stick suffered just 8 months on that horrible field:

Well then maybe mine are a lot worse because deep breathing, walking, laying down or basically any movement makes mine kill. My season is also over anyways because after today all the hills will be closed.

holy shit thats bad! mine is in similar condition but thats after 5 years haha. we played on sand for about a year though and the stick i used then was whittled down pretty far but thankfully when i invested in a good stick we moved to water.

what sticks do you use?

definitely worse. i toughed it out once i could get to the point where breathing no longer bothered it. walking at that point didn't hurt, impact landings did, and coughing or sneezing killed.

I have a whole shitload of sticks but the two I use most often are, the Brabo 100% carbon thing, I got like 6 of these real cheap when a shop went out of business, I use these for training.

And then there is my beloved three year old TK 1.3 LTi, I use this for matches only.
Pretty much as good as the old TK 1.5 only without the hideous gold colour and anti dampening.

i've been needing a new stick for years but i've just never got round to getting one. since using my friend's brabo though i'm pretty much set on one of them (not sure what model though. tc-something i think)

i use one of these bad boys:

 originally ordered the Christian Zeller model which is way better but got fucked over by the shop and got sent the normal one, which pissed me off big time. its pretty good for hitting but being 5 years old its long been surpassed (still the best adidas have made though IMO) and the touch is pretty bad (the carbon construction makes it super bouncy and its so dead by now its extremely unresponsive). i haven't changed the shammy in ages either, it's disgusting haha

Muscles are awesome too. But they're more of a vessel for flavor while scallops can do it on their own. I go ham on muscles in red sauce though.

Never had an Adidas stick.

You should also check out TK and Dita, I have Brabo's but I'd recommend those two brands over them.
The premium TK's are a bit of a love and hate thing do.

Very light, very stiff, the control wing reduces the size of the sweet point for striking which takes some getting used to, but damn they are so good for flicking, scooping, pushing and 3D skills.
